Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4

Internet down after update!

Emailed, called China (no one picks up) and useless Malysian hotline. They say they are aware the firmware they pushed out Saturday 11 Jan 2020 morning essentially bricks the Deco5 and they have emailed tech in China who have gone home for the weekend. When they return to the office next week, they will start looking at it.

My Maxis 300 mbps now delivers between 0-1 mbps even though when I use the test built into the deco app, is says 300 mbps is available.

Thankfully I had a backup router which works and delivers my 300 mbps but it's a disaster that tpLink push out a defective firmware on the weekend and then turns off the lights in tech support!

My upgrade went fine, no issues and happy I can now use segregated guest network instead of having to use another router for guests.

Hopefully you figure out how to downgrade or tp-link offers a patched firmware soon.

@Potato55 I had major problem after this upgrade with reboots/dropouts and my configuration being wiped.

To recover to a point where its at least usable I turned off all the remote decos and found that with just one it was stable.

I then turned on the remote decos one by one and found that only one of them had an issue and would bring down the network if I powered it up.

So I am running one deco less until they come up with a fix.

Perhaps manually updating my faulty deco will fix it for me but I think by rolling back to the earlier version may solve the problem.

I am waiting to hear back from support

@apcameron

Hello, what is the operation mode of the Deco? Is it router mode or AP mode?

Try to switch the slave Deco to the main Deco and connect it to the modem directly and verify whether it works. https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2400/

If still the same, please tell us the led status of all Deco units.

And try to disable fast roaming to give it a go.

Besides, with configuration being wiped, do you need to reconfigure the Deco with the parameters given by ISP? What is the connection type? PPPoE, dynamic IP or static IP?

Good day.

@NavarroOne Same issue with mine - deco units keep dropping out - inconsistent internet, repeated 'new device detected'. Totally unusable now after 1.4.0 firmware!!

@NavarroOne Similar issues here... not bricked, but internet has been dropping in and out all morning**, and Deco app has been notifying me of "new" devices ever since that are not new at all.

** In fact, has just taken me three attempts to post this.
