Model: Archer VR900
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 0.1.0 0.9.1

Hi,

Can someone please tell me if it possible to use my smart phone with one of the USB 3.0 ports to provide Internet via USB tethering?  It says 3g/4g on the box but I don't think it supports this feature ?

@aindriu

Archer VR900 supports 3/4G router mode, while it usually works with the 3/4G dongle in this mode;

We have not tested whether it can work with cellphone via USB cable and we do not guarantee that it will work.

If you have not purchased the Archer VR900 to work with your cellphone via USB cable, it is not suggested; if you have had it already, you can give it a go by connecting the cellphone to the USB port via USB cable.

@Kevin_Z

thanks for the info.  It seems as though connecting the modem/router to the internet via USB tethering isn't supported.

@aindriu

I see, then the Archer VR900 cannot satisfy your needs.

If you want to use the sim card to provide internet, you can purchase a LTE gateway router, like Archer MR400, Archer MR600. They can work with the sim card as long as the network type is compatible.

Good day.

Hi,

Thanks for your help, I sent back the VR900 modem/router just yesterday after buying it brand new because it didn't support USB tethering.  I found the GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 Mini Travel Router which only costs 20 bucks which does.
