Model: Archer VR2800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 200116 Rel.60756n

Note the router is a VR2100, not 2800 as the 2100 is not listed in the Model box!

Firmware Version:1.1.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 200116 Rel.60756n
Hardware Version:Archer VR2100 v1 00000000

I have been using the VR2100 since 29th September  (2 weeks) and it restarts every day.

I didn't notice at first, but I have 1 device that doesn't reconnect to the network when the network goes down.

It seems to be early-ish, before 9am but I have had it restart once in the afternoon.

My iPhone will swap to 4G for approx 1 minute.

Reboot schedule is disabled.

I am in the UK.

I am on Plus.net Fibre extra.

I have reset the router (by holding the reset button at the back for 10+ seconds) and re-entered all the settings.

Interestingly, I reset it at just after 7am on Sunday morning and just after 7am on Monday morning it restarted.

I had been using an HG635 modem wireless router from Talk Talk which stays connected until I restart it.

There are no logs before the issue because it seems to clear them when restarting.

The time is logged incorrectly, but after connecting this is corrected.

Is there any thing I can do?

I have 2 more weeks, then I will need to return it to Amazon.

Thank you

@Gard

I had this problem, also on PlusNet in the UK.  In the end, after testing everything at the home end, I got in touch with Plusnet via the report a problem page on their website and explained that I had replaced the standard Plusnet router with a third party router which was randomly resetting itself several times a week.  They did some investigation at their end and "found no issues".  However, since then, the router has remained up and stable.  48 days and counting!  I'm wondering if they did reset something at their end which was causing the router to have problems.

Thank you. The router restarted itself at 4:30pm whilst I was on a MS Teams meeting, I hadn't had chance to install the debug firmware at that point. I've now updated to the debug firmware. It is now Firmware Version:1.2.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 200923 Rel.55540n The USB now has debug.log on there. When it reboots itself next time I will send debug.log over to you.

Another restart occurred this morning at 10:15am.

That is 18 hours after the last restart and 16 hours after putting on the debug firmware.

I have sent over the debug.log file.

I looked this morning at the status of the router and it says the DSL Up time was only 11 hours (I was expecting 23 hours), but the logs show the the DSL line went down at 21:30 last night, this is separate to the router rebooting itself.

@Gard

It rebooted itself Friday night at 10pm.

And rebooted itself Saturday morning at 10:30am

Sunday morning the internet stopped working for the final time.  I unplugged it and plugged my old ISP provided router back in.

I shall now return it to Amazon.

For future reference:

When it reboots itself it takes between 1 and 3 minutes to get going again.

The log file is cleared and the first log entry is date 2016, e.g.

124    2016-01-01 00:00:30    SYSTEM    Notice    DSL Training

Usage varies between practically none to quite a lot.

It's not at a particular time of day, and it is not after a certain amount of time.

I didn't notice at first because it was rebooting early in the morning.

I was sent a link to a debug firmware which writes a debug.log file to the usb drive on the router.

I flashed this, when the router rebooted itself I sent the debug.log file to support.uk@tp-link.com

I gave as much information as possible to what was using the internet at the time.

Last Wednesday, support said that the RD engineer "hopefully can get it located and solved for you asap"

@Gard

Thanks for replying but I wasn't able to continue using a router that stopped for a few minutes whilst I was in an online meeting.

So, as stated in this topic, I returned it to the retailer 3 months ago on 2020-10-18.
