I think the question is whether you have MAC address filtering. MAC address filtering is an option where you can choose to whitelist OR blacklist addresses based on their MAC address. This is a standard in many routers. For example, you can have the default setting to "not allow" any connections other than those from specific MAC addresses (whitelisting) . Of course you should still have the other option of blacklisting. The obvious problem with blacklist-only is that for every unwanted connection, you'd have to check and then blacklist each and every time, hopefully not missing one. That's far from a practical option. If you need some examples, you can look at Netgear or ASUS or, quite honestly, most routers on the market. If you do not have this feature can you let me know where in the development stage it is? Thanks.

Update:
Hi,
Thanks for your feedback.
The Deco device, currently only supported the deny list.
As for the whitelist, the R&D team is reconsidering this feature and so far no further ETA has been provided.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
I've always used a whitelisting instead of a blacklisting for all my WiFi, previously.
I thought this was a basic security feature !
Adding unknown mac addresses one by one as they appear is tedious. Having a list of known and trusted mac addresses is far eaisier !!
And the notification for new connections does not seem to work on my phone, making it even more frustrating...
Furthermore, without this, there is no point in parental controls or whatever... You won't believe how easily kids find out on youtube how to spoof mac address to circumvent parental controls... Random MAC addresses is a basic option in windows wifi connection...
I hope a firmware update will be released soon !

MAC Address filtering in my opinion should be part of basic functionality... any idea when the firmware would be ready?

As for the whitelist, currently, there is no plan to add the feature on the Deco yet;
Thank you very much.
@TP-Link How is it possible that such a basic security option is not supported and there are currently no plans to implement it? There are thousands of requests for it on the forums. How many do you need before you make it happen? I understand it is my fault for not doing the research ahead of time and taking too long to install the product so now is too late to return it but come on, it's a basic security feature.

Hi,
i definitely won’t recommend to anyone the Deco until it provides a whitelist filtering option.
An absolute must for parent control !
