I'd much prefer a whitelist to a blacklist when it comes to MAC filtering.  It seems somewhat odd to implement a blacklist when a whitelist would offer far greater control?  I like the Deco E4R hardware but was disappointed to find that whitelist MAC filtering is currently a feature that is absent.

Please implement whitelist MAC filtering on the Deco E4R, thank you!

@TP-Link_Deco pls make a whitelist for Mac. I really need it, some devices seem to have trouble connect to my Deco M5 wifi.

@leo.ngo

Hello, do you have a MAC filtering setting on the Deco app for your TV box? If yes, please delete that rule first.

However, if there is no Blacklist for your TV box on the Deco app but you still cannot connect it to the Deco Wi-Fi network, please check some details:

1. When you search for the Deco Wi-Fi network, can you find it on the TV box? If no, please ensure your TV box supports a wireless connection, you may verify this by trying to connect to another wireless network.

2. If your TV box can see the Deci Wi-Fi network, please tell me what is the error message when it tried to connect, show me the screenshot on the TV box.

Thanks.

@TP-Link_Deco

I also need a whitelisting option as soon as possible. I am tired of tracking the users who keep bypassing the wifi access time limits by changing the MAC address.

thanks

As compared to the complexity of various technical issues which TP Link is addressing, it seems taking too long time to add this relatively easy feature. I noted that this issue is being discussed for at least since 2018, as can be seen in the following thread: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/151043

It would appear that the ability to whitelist MAC addresses is already a function of the Deco E4R.  The option to blacklist a MAC address demonstrates that MAC addresses are filtered and as such can be prevented from joining a network.  The daft thing is that blacklisting is akin to removing the lock on your front door only to install a security guard to watch who enters.  On the other hand, whitelisting gives those whom you'd like to enter the door, a key!  The capability to provide whitelisting is already in place.  In fact, the option to blacklist or whitelist could easily be a toggle on the app that reads a MAC address list and either blocks or allows access to the network, could it not?  Please update the software and firmware for the Deco E4R.  It's a excellent piece of technology that gives me a great signal throughout my home and hasn't let me down once.  Thank you.

@TP-Link_Deco That great news!  Thank you for considering the whitelist feature for the excellent Deco E4R.  This is my first TP-Link piece of hardware and aside from performance, user support is important to me and whether I am able to recommend hardware to my friends and family.   I look forward to the firmware upgrade.
