Model: Archer VR1200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: v1_2.0.0 0.9_v6041.0_Build_201218

Hi. I have a problem with this router (Archer VR1210v) : it randomly fails the pppoe connection to the provider (WindTre, in Italy), and does not connect until the device is turned off and on again. I've tried to wait for a long time (2 hours), but it doesn't connect. With the two latest firmwares the problems occurs much more frequently (with v1_2.0.0 0.9_v6041.0_Build_201218 and v1_2.0.0 0.9_v6041.0_Build_200629_Rel.2756n ). Instead with the firmware v1_2.0.0.0.9_v6041.0_Build_200320_Rel.6025n the problem is less frequent, but it happens about 30% of the time I turn on the router. I have already contacted the provider which ruled out problems on the line (FTTC 200 mbps, VDSL2). The connection of the carrier signal occurs without problems: the DSL LED is on, steady. The problem is only on the PPPoE connection. I do not understand why the router does not retry the pppoe connection, and a restart is always required. It would be enough to try the connection again. Thank you, best regards.

@onvacation

Hi,

Have you checked whether both wireless and Ethernet connections have the same unstable issue?

Would there be any error message on the advanced>status page, such as' please configure the DNS manually'?

And please also make sure that the firmware on the modem is up to date;

Thank you very much.

@TP-Link

Hi, thank you for the reply. This reply is for me, or for onvacation and Archer v400 v2? For my Archer VR1210v, when PPPoE fails, no subsequent connection can take place, including wireless, ethernet, and voip. Because PPPoE is at the top of everyone, and it is necessary for all connections and to acquire an IP address. Without an IP address, even DNS are not used. The PPPoE and VOIP LEDs do not light up. Anyway there aren't DNS error message in that page. On the two newer firmware, the problem is WORST and happens much more frequently. So I'm forced to use v1_2.0.0.0.9_v6041.0_Build_200320_Rel.6025n where the problem is much less frequent. I would like to specify that when I restart the router, it connects IMMEDIATELY without any problem. But it may take 2-3 reboots to resolve. Especially on new firmware. How can I report this bug? Hope the coders fix it soon. Thank you. Best regards.
