I recently purchased the X20-DSL to replace my UK Sky broadband router as the official 1.04 firmware was released a few days ago with the following comments: -

Modifications and Bug Fixes:
1.Newly supported Sky MER line in the UK.

I have attempted to switch the unit into DSL modem router mode but the quick setup fails whilst attempting to create VLAN 101 after choosing the Sky MER option. According to 3rd party articles referencing replacement routers for Sky ISP I was expecting a prompt for the user name and password for DHCP option 61 - but this is not the case.

Please can you provide an update on this issue and confirm whether DSL router mode is actually possible with the UK Sky MER service? My X20 is now running in access point mode but was purchased to consolidate the Sky modem router with my Deco mesh.

@MTE_Spirit

Hi, when you chose SKY(MER) ISP profile, there is no need to input VLAN ID, only username and password.

As for the username and password, did you get them from the service provider?

And there is also a link to help you find the password by yourself.

https://www.georgebuckingham.com/sky-fibre-router-vdsl-password/

PS: if ISP confirms that you must have VLAN ID, the connection might be normal SKY DSL broadband, instead of SKY MER.

Thank you very much.

@TP-Link

Thanks, I already have the user name and password. The issue is that the Deco app does not ask you to provide these details. I have taken step by step screenshots of the quick setup process below for both Sky ISP options: -

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

As you can see, there is no prompt for credentials - just the VLAN screen which fails.

Has the latest Deco app resolved this as I noticed there was a new update yesterday?

@Shark5791 @MTE_Spirit @TP-Link

Nope not working yet. Support talked me through using 'other', rather than Sky but no joy. Sending me a firmware to try later.

Not a shock but no change. Will see if they get back in the next 24hours or it's going back to amazon (probably with some interesting comments about the labeling for firmware).

@JDC123

Update:

[Problem description]

During the setup, when you choose SKY_MER VDSL profile, the built-in configuration will be dynamic IP+VLAN 101 with no place to input your username and password.

[Solutions]

The latest APP version( IOS APP 2.9.44/ Android APP 2.9.24) was released several days ago and it has the option to input username and password under SKY(MER) profile.

@TP-Link After updating the Deco app to the android beta version (and the subsequent 2.9.24 release via the Google Play Store) the username and password options were available, but the reconfiguration to DSL Modem Router still failed.

Even though the configuration via the Deco app stated it had failed I rebooted the X20-DSL, without changing anything else or reverting the configuration, and everything started working.

I have shared this with TP-Link support but everything has been working great for over 24 hours and my Sky router (ER115) is now back in a box!
