Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.3

Hello,

I just install Deco P9 but if I try to deactivate both Wifi signals the app  tell me it's not possible for the backhaul function but the backhaul using the PLC.

I had bought them because other user tell me that the wifi can be off... ( I don't want to use wifi only when it's necessary else I prefer to use Ethernet !

Is it possible that this will be implemented in future firmware ?

And if I set up a ethernet backhaul is it possible to shutdown wifi ?

Can I force the PLC backhaul ?

Did you have an idea for the next release of firmware ? what will be the new functions ?

Thanks in advance.

ps: the web interface is very very limited :/

ps2: I guest that the fact the PLC of the P9 is not comptible with other PLC adaptator is not mentionned on the product page :/

I have tested with only PLC backhaul but I can't switch off the wifi too.

Next test is to use the ethernet backhaul...

Even with the ethernet backhaul, it's not possible to switch off completely wifi...

So my request is still waiting response :

@TP-Link_Deco  : is it possible to add this possibility to switch off wifi in the next  deco app release if the backhaul is not  using the wifi signal ? Or in the web interface of the P9

As seen on other post on M4 I guess, the main node will still have access to the web as it is linked with ethernet cable to the router/modem

@Jorael

Hi, the main feature for Deco products is their Wi-Fi mesh;

May I know why you choose Deco P9 under the condition that you don’t need any Wi-Fi signal from Deco since I think the power-line adapters might be much more suitable?

Currently, there is no plan to switch off both Wi-Fi bands completely and I will keep attention to the similar feedback for further evaluation;

@TP-Link

Why I have choose P9 ? Is simple because in the specification they use CPL for backhaul interconnection, and as I live in a rented house I can't add ethernet cables all over  + the 2 ethernet plugs in each P9  + the Wifi was just a bonus for me.

I have an old Archer 2600 router with the physical switch on/off wifi function but it's signal don't arrive on my terrace and neither in my bedroom when I need it. ( I need wifi only with my smartphone and my notebook when I use it on the terrace all others equipments are connected in ethernet )

The other aspect is the price of the P9 If I have to choose with PLC adaptater with ethernet switch + Wifi access  It cost me more than the P9 ( bought during the Amazon Prime Days)  I have choose after 2 days of thinking and after someone tell me that the wifi can be switch off ( He doesn't mentioned the 2 signals in the same time)

On the paper P9 seems to be a very good product.

If you add the switch off wifi function the deco P9 will be the perfect product for my usage. ( ok 1 more ethernet plug on each P9 will be good too :))

I have read in this forum, some persons who want this switch off function too on Deco products .... And as it is already possible to cut off one of the 2 signals why TP-Link don't add this switch off function ?

Maybe I should have to return the product to Amazon now... and buy PLC adapter with ethernet switch and use an old wifi access point to have wifi in my terrace on demand.

Regards,

Jorael

@Jorael

If you are happy with P9s as powerline adapters and don't need their WiFi, why can't you just ignore Deco WiFi? Treat Deco WiFi signal just like you could treat any neighbors WiFi network reaching your house.

Just my two cents.
