Signal Source Selection

I've 3 Deco at home (3 storey house) and I am placing 1 Deco at each floor. My ISP modem router is located on 2nd floor which is the main Deco. Before upgrading to "1.5.1 Build 20210330 Rel. 64251" The Deco at Ground Floor Deco's signal source is the 1st floor Deco and the 1st floor Deco's signal source is 2nd Floor Deco.

However after perform the upgrade to "1.5.1 Build 20210330 Rel. 64251" I noticed that both signal source for 1st floor & Ground Floor deco is pointing to 2nd Floor Deco (Main Deco). This causing the signal between Ground Floor Deco & 2nd Floor Deco is very weak (without utilizing 1st floor Deco's signal)

I tried to reboot Ground Floor Deco but the Signal Source won't change.

Is this a bug for the latest 1.5.1 Build 20210330 Rel. 64251 ?

Is there a way I can force Ground Floor Deco connect to 1st floor Deco to have a stronger signal?

Thanks.

Best Regards,
Jeffrey Lim.

@JeffreyLim

Hi Jeffrey, Deco will select the best source unit to connect automatically, and there is currently no option on the Deco app to force it to connect to a certain source unit. You can try to relocate the Deco node at the Ground Floor and the one at the 2nd floor, ensure the Ground Floor one is physically far away from the main. And you can reboot the Ground Floor node and verify whether it will connect to the 1st floor.

We do have the plan to add such a feature to force a Deco unit to connect to a certain one in the future firmware updates, please kindly wait and pay attention to the Deco app.

@TP-Link

Thanks for your prompt reply. Prior upgrading the firmware, when I reboot the Deco on Ground Floor, most of the time it will select the Signal Source pointing at 1St Floor Deco.

However after upgraded, when ever I reboot the Deco on Ground floor, it still keep selecting the 1st floor Deco as the signal source.

May I know is there any mechanism changed for selecting signal source for version 1.5.1 Build 20210330 Rel. 64251 ? I read the release note there is nothing related to signal source ?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Jeffrey Lim

As far as I know, the mechanism for selecting signal source doesn't make any change. If this affect the connectivity stability, we would like to investigate further, we will contact you via email to troubleshoot.
