  @TP-Link

I gave up.

Switched to 3 Velop MX5200 units.  Much better coverage than my 5 Deco P9 units.

Interestingly, how come it allows me to switch all bands to different (less congested) channels and doesn't kill my LAN connection when the WAN goes down...

Both things you claimed were not possible to implement (for our own good).

  @TP-Link says "We have also implemented enhancements on certain models" It's been over 3 years now since TP-Link admitted this BUG. It has not been fixed, as confirmed by so-called customer support staff less than a month ago.

So what "certain models" has it been fixed for? Not the M5 or M9 ..... but my new Orbis work well. I can still access my servers on the LAN when the WAN disconnects with the Orbis; sadly not with the Decos!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to ANY response from this so-called networking company!

  @TP-Link I've been without internet for a month and just come across this thread, what a weird non-scenario where its the lack of internet that has destroyed all LAN connections because of the lack of dedicated WAN port. Pretty poor that the work around is get the ISP to fix it (you think we might have tried that!!?). Assignable ports please!!

It's driving me nuts to have to have two devices next to each other

Not having LAN because no external internet WAN, is insane. How could i have known this prior to purchase

  @TimDan you couldn't unless you worked for TP-Link! It's a nuance of the firmware and not someone anyone sane would have thought to ask!

it's like buying an ev and finding it doesn't work when disconnected from the charger! You'd not think to as as we'd all assumed Boone would be stupid enough to design it like that!

  @TP-Link Just wondering. If the X50 model now has this problem fixed by allowing WAN port assignment, can I get a single X50 unit and replace my current main S4 Deco only. Will the X50 interoperatate with the remaining S4 units.

  @TimDan I'd also be interested in the answer to this. I imagine it would be fine.  I'm largely unaffected by the issue.  My Deco (in router mode) sits behind a Sonicwall which has WAN failover to 4G.  However last week I got called downstairs as the 'internet' was off.  Internet was fine for wired devices through the Sonicwall but Deco had confused itself over which was LAN and which was WAN.  Had to disconnect the LAN cable, reboot Deco, wait for white light, then plug Deco back in to the LAN to fix.  Just rebooting wouldn't cure it.  Doesnt happen often enough to be a nuisance, but is an annoyance.
