Hi,

My broadband is FTTP with BT and a smart hub 2. I then have Cat 5e connecting from the main router to a seperate part of the house into my Tp-link c50 ac1200 which I've got setup in access point mode. I have my mobile device actively connected to the tp link access point and my PC which is then connected through ethernet from the access point to the PC.

With this setup I notice ping spikes when gaming, every few minutes or so my ping goes from 20-30ms to 100-150ms and then returns to normal. However, if I just have the PC directly connected through the ethernet cable from the main bt home router then these ping spikes do not occur, so surely its something to do with the TP-link?

Why could this be? What can I do to resolve this. Let me know if I need to provide any more information/detail about anything for you to be able to help.

Thankyou.

@BaileyJones

We have a story talking about the high ping or ping spike issue, please have a check:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/stories/detail/1392

When you experience a high ping on the PC connected to the C50 with an Ethernet connection, are there any other devices connecting to the C50 network via cable or Wi-Fi? Any high traffic?

You can follow Case 2 to change the C50 into AP mode again to confirm if there is still an issue:
