Deco x60 MU-MIMO Issue (iPerf Test)
Hi,
As per my understanding the Deco x60 has 4 streams on 5 Ghz and should support a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 2402 mbps on 4x4 MU-MIMO, so I performed an iPerf3 test to confirm this, and based on my results, it looks like its only using 2 streams (maximum 1201 mbps).
Test Setup (iperf3 was used):
2 Deco x60 in access point mode (connected via 1gbps ethernet cable)
1 2020 M1 Macbook Air (connected to 5ghz 802.11ax 1200 link rate) as iperf server
1 2020 iPad Air (connected to 5ghz 802.11ax, link rate should likely be 1200 as well) as iperf client
Test 1:
M1 Macbook Air connected to Deco x60-1
iPad Air connected to Deco x60-1
iPerf3 test results:
Average Transfer Rate: ~350mbps
Peak Transfer Rate: ~420mbps
Test 2:
M1 Macbook Air connected to Deco x60-1
iPad Air connected to Deco x60-2
iPerf3 test results:
Average Transfer Rate: ~650mbps
Peak Transfer Rate: ~800mbps
Both of these devices are 2x2 MU-MIMO while the Deco x60 is 4x4 MU-MIMO so I expected there to be no difference between tests if MU-MIMO was working as expected (both devices would get 2 streams each with link rate of 1200mbps). This means that Test 1 should have had the same results as Test 2, but it looks like they shared bandwidth instead (almost exactly half) instead of getting 2 streams each, seems like they shared 2 streams instead of dividing 4 streams. Can anyone from TP_Link confirm this?
Thanks.
