Model: Archer VR1200
Hardware Version: V7
Firmware Version:

Hi,

This is a pre-purchase enquiry, if anyone can help I'd be grateful.

We use various Archer VR routers in PPOE mode for VDSL connections with our own firewall on the LAN side successfully.

We are looking at using the same units for connections with multiple static IP addresses (usually .248 ranges so 8 addresses, 5 useable).

This works with the old BT Huawei routers, we justt add the additional external IP addresses as aliases on our firewalls and the router/modem passes them through just fine.

Does anyone know if the Archer units will pass these alias IP addresses through to the firewall properly?

TIA

SMS.

@SMSystems

Hi, actually I might not be able to understand what you are trying to do on the Archer VR1200:

We are looking at using the same units for connections with multiple static IP addresses (usually .248 ranges so 8 addresses, 5 useable).

Is it like, the DHCP IP address pool is xxx.xxx.xxx.1- 247, then the left IP address xxx.248-254 would be reserved for a special purpose?
