W8968 - 1000 File Limit on Media Server?

Can someone confirm that there is a limit of 1000 files on the Media Server function on the W8968 router?
It doesn't say so anywhere in the manual, but this is what I have found when I connected an external USB drive with over 4000 music and video files to the router.
The limit is not mentioned in the manual but I have seen it referred to in relation to other TP-Link routers discussed on these forums.
