We are using IPv6 4G router for our project and bought almost 14 units of Archer MR600

6 Units of (HW: Archer MR600 v1)

8 Units of (HW: Archer MR600 v2)

Total 14.

 

Our project is primarily using IPv6. The Simcard & APN are private from the Telecom provider and have static IPv6 address.

 

Our aim is to host some small server on PC connected to MR600 on IPv6.

 

Initially, we tested the modem on Ipv4 using the DMZ option where we can put the local IP of PC, so all the traffic can be forwarded to the PC.

This works perfectly and all incoming connections are received at PC and served.

 

But when we wanted to do the same on IPv6, we cannot do it. Actually, we don't see the space to write local pc IPv6 address because DMZ has only 4 boxes for IPv4 address.

 

We are able to initiate a TCP connection from the PC to the remote device in the same network on the IPv6 apn but the other way around does not work. I.e When the remote device tries to connect to the Local PC the MR600 does not forward the connection to the PC. While the same things work perfectly on IPv4.

 

We tried this on both Hardware  Archer MR600 v1 & v2 but it did not work on both.

 

I will appreciate your precious advice as we have already had many units but we cannot run the system.

@Captain_Arm I have similar problem. I think ipv6 is not fully implemented in TP-link routers, as there are no options to allow/reject/filter incoming ipv6 traffic like ipv4

 

If you know about some budget friendly router that fully support ipv6 then please let me know. Many thanks

@panko: Yes true, I expect if they can provide a new Firmware to fix this problem on IPv6 and allow the IPv6 incoming traffic to local PC.

@Captain_Arm This is the interface of the router the ISP gave me. It has ipv6 firewall rules section where I can unblock incoming ipv6 traffic.

I think I need to find some budget friendly router which has these options.

@Captain_Arm Or maybe I can flash custom router firmware like DD-WRT or OpenWRT in my tp-link router because I don't have money to buy another router.

I'm gonna try custom firmware. I will let you know here if it solves the ipv6 problem

@panko  Do you mean there are other Firmwares that we can use for the TP-link MR600 which can resolve this problem? Or you meant to look for other routers.

@Captain_Arm Yes other firmwares can be installed in tp-link router to increase its functionality. I haven't tried it and it may void the warranty.

But still I am gonna try it on my MR3420 v5 router. I googled and found some info about how to do it, lets see if it will work.

I am gonna let you know in 1-2 days if the other firmware solves the ipv6 issue.

@Captain_Arm  I think that @Kevin_Z  and @TP-Link should say a word, on this topic and give clear explanation about ipv6 full implementation in 4G routers..

Hi, on the MR600 v1/V2, there is also an ipv6 firewall under advanced>security which is enabled by default.

And you could try to turn it off on the web UI.

As for the MR3420 static route settings for IPV6, your case is different from the other two users.

We tested from our side, the same error message will pop out with"::/prefix length as 0".

Do you want to make the destination IPv6 address as ANY address?

I see that the reason you want to set up IPV6 static router is that  IPV6 connectivity on the PC displayed "no internet access".

Normally, there is no need to set up an additional static route to allow the IPV6 service.

@TP-Link : Yes I have seen that IPv6 Firewall. I have disabled it in past but the question is how an incoming TCP connection will be forwarded to the local Host-PC connected to the router. How the router will know to forward the traffic or connection to which PC. Because in DMZ we define the local host pc IPv4 address and the incoming TCP connection is IPv6. Can you explain how can we achieve this by disabling the Firewall or is there an alternative configuration on web UI. Thanks.
