@D_K

I personally understand what you request and would agree that manufacturers should consider improving the product functionality and features as much as possible. However, there are few manufacturers that maintain the old versions with the most updated features especially when there are hardware or firmware limitations.

I've been patiently waiting for my Archer AX73 to receive a firmware upgrade allowing for EasyMesh. I check in on the compatibility list every so often. To my surprise and disappointment, the AX73 has been removed from the list. Only the AX75 remains.

Have the plans to provide this update to the AX73 really been dropped?

I've been a loyal, and patient, TP-Link customer for many years but the lack of OneMesh features and the constant dangling of this EasyMesh carrot has left me quite frustrated.

Please either allow OpenMesh to backhaul or allow multiple wired routers in the mesh or provide EasyMesh support for the AX73. This is not an old router? I will give TP-Link to the end of 2023 before I scrap the entire mesh for another brand. Out of respect for TP-Link I won't list any competitors here that I am considering moving to but there are several that offer a much more robust feature set and less chaos in their hardware lineup.

@Omg7788

Good news!

I'm happy to inform you that Archer AX73 V1 also supports EasyMesh now. Please check and update your router firmware to the latest 1.3.5 Build 20230919 version as below:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/archer-ax73/v1/#Firmware

Please be aware that you'll not allowed to downgrade to the previous 1.2.6 official version once upgraded to this one since this version has significant modifications.

  @Kevin_Z

Hi Kevin, thanks for the update but i just search the tplink website for firmware and do not see any firmware dated 13/10/2023. I also check the firmware through tplink tether apps but still the latest firmware shows V 1.2.6 Build 20230526 rel.53018

Any thoughts?

  @Kevin_Z @Omg7788

That's fantastic news Kevin.  Like Omg7788 though, I'm only seeing v1.2.6 20230526 on the US, Canada and EU sites.  I'm guessing this new version isn't fully rolled out yet? Is there a direct download link available?  (I'm in Canada)

While I have your attention...  my other device is an RE705X (supports EasyMesh), will it be possible to connect my AX73 v1 with my RE705X via Ethernet, and have them create an EasyMesh wifi mesh over the ethernet backbone?   I'm hoping not to need to rely on the wireless connectivity between the two devices and have them communicate with each other via Ethernet, but then have wireless devices in the house intelligently move betwen the devices based on their location.

Thanks!

  @Kevin_Z

Can you please add easymesh compatibility to the archer ax20? I bought a new NX510v 5G sim-modem/router thinking I could use the AX20 (which I also bought very recently) as a range extender since both supported your Mesh. Did not realize EasyMesh and OneMesh did not work together, so confusing. Please add EasyMesh to the AX20.

  @Kevin_Z I agree with the others. This seems like great news, if we can actually download the update! I am in the US and not seeing tha latest version available for download. Thanks for your help.

The most recent version I see available is Archer AX73(US)_V1_1.2.6 Build 20230526

For those that want to experiment, I accessed the link using my VPN and the latest version did indeed appear.

Direct link: https://static.tp-link.com/upload/firmware/2023/202310/20231013/Archer%20AX73_V1_230919.zip

If you are not using a European device I advise against installing this. There is probably a good reason it is not available to US / Canada customers yet. Hopefully it will be soon.

 @PrimoSlate ah since it needs to have vpn to get access to the latest firmware, i guess i will just wait for official roll out then.

@Kevin_Z  Hi Kevin, may i know this firmware supports easymesh with ethernet backhaul as well or just wireless backhaul?

@Levistras Thanks for asking. If your AX73 is a CA version, you may need to wait for another week or two. I have checked with the developers and I'm assured that there will be also new firmware for other versions to support EasyMesh and Ethernet Backhaul.

However, if you want to use Ethernet Backhaul, both the main router and the satellite device need to support it. That is to say, both the AX73 and your RE705X should support EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul, then you can build up an EasyMesh network via Ethernet connection. BTW, RE605X supports EasyMesh but doesn't support Ethernet Backhaul.sad
