Thanks for your response.  For me, router to first deco unit is wired but the other two are wireless.  But i see a big drop from the first unit.

I'll consider and think about wired set up if doable for me.  Thanks.

It is how the system works. For every hop, there will be a speed reduction of 50%. The back haul 5GHz channel (the second 5GHz) is supposed to mimic the wired back haul but I think the decos still use the other 2 channels (2.4GHz and 5GHz) for pulling data from the main deco. A wired Ethernet back haul will not produce this drop in speed.

My first deco connect to managed switch.

I have 1000/200 from my ISP, my wired iMac gets 940/230 on speed test. It's everything ok, also nat/port forwarding.

Correct, best to have all deco wired to have the best wireless coverage.

I have 5 deco m9+ to cover my house and backyard and having no issues while over 50 devices are connected.

Hi! Yes, wiring the decos will provide each of the deco with what the switch is capable of and mostly it will be at least 1Gbps and hence there will be no much reduction in wireless speeds. Moreover the decos or any other models of mesh devices will still be in mesh configuration and hence fast roaming, smooth handover will still be there.... Some houses/buildings it is easy to do new wiring but many places it may not be possible to do so..... I too have 5 decos but connected via WiFi only as I have to hack the walls for new wiring. I still get 100 Mbps at the last deco which is two hops away from the main deco...... My internet speed is now limited to 500 Mbps due to the prototype 1.6 firmware....hahaha

Yes, I'm getting 471.32/226.04 Mbps wired. Never tested it, only on the phone who is better than previous fw.

So, I,m going back to previous firmware.

Thanks

 Hi

To downgrade, you need a rj45 cable, direct from any port on deco to pc, your pc need IP 192.168.0.66, 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.0.1.

Then for http uboot, put a ping -t 192.168.0.1 on a cmd Window or Linux terminal.

Then, press reset on deco, plug the power, when you see ping working, count from 1 to 20, then release the reset button.

Go to your pc, open browser http://192.168.0.1 and update the firmware 1.5.6 and you get the 1G bandwidth back.

You lost schedule reboot on the app...

If you want to keep your configuration, first update a secondary deco, promote to man deco on the app, disconnect main deco, place the secondary deco on it's place, then change de firmware on the main deco. Do everything again (reset, upload fw) to put main deco back on it's place. This way you will keep all your configuration and port forwarding, only loose tplink ddns, but it's easy, to put it back again.

I will wait for a new update 1.6 with schedule reboot... and better stability on WiFi (it was better stability on Wi-Fi with beta 1.6 fw, but lose half the bandwidth from my ISP it's not good).

See you guys
