Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.5 Build 20211208 rel.49262(4555)

Hi,

I've had my AX6000 V1 with FW "1.2.5 Build 20211208 rel.49262(4555)" now for a couple of months, and I have noticed that the behavior of the WiFi is extremely unreliable.

I've had in the past a two WR1043, MR3020, C9 and a AC3200. All of those have been used with no issues. Always have they worked.

So I have recently start using the feature of daily reboots at 06:00 hours each morning, and been getting surprised that my IoT devices can not connect to 2.4Ghz.
Why? Because the AP isn't there!

What I have tried.
Smart connect : yes   (This worked with AC3200 without any issue)
Bandwidth 20 or 40 MHz, and Auto: yes, equally bad.
Channels 1-13: yes, no change at all.

Turn off 5Ghz and only run 2.4Ghz without guest: yes, with hard(cold) reboot, nothing changed.

Sometimes the 2.4Ghz just shows up then disappears right after. which makes me believe that the WiFi parts are somewhat flaky.

I have checked the system logs, but they are very slim and don't show any fundamental function of good/bad.

In the past I've also used DD-WRT or OpenWrt or whatever FW, they have never ever behaved the way stock FW has behaved.

Why don't you just enable the possibility for developers and users to use whatever FW is out there? Sorta like there is a possibility to unlock boot loaders on android phones?

At current state I would not recommend buying a AX6000, I really had my hopes high on this product. But today I would be very reluctant into buying any product that is TP-Link.

Changing parameters in System Tools --> System Parameters for the 2.4Ghz seems to make AP come up sometimes. like 5% of the cases. 5Ghz is unaffected even if changing those parameters. Would be nice to see a somewhat of a functional log from the kernel sorta like Asus har done or whatever, some sort of feedback! The really funny part is that some of my smart devices like bulbs(2.4Ghz) are connected to the 2.4Ghz network but there is no such AP coming up; by connected, i mean that they are reachable from app on phone.

@wiktorb82

Only those smart IoT devices are affected? Or only those smart IoT devices need to connect to the 2.4G network?

What are the brand and model of those smart IoT devices? When they lose the connection, are they completely disappearing from the AX6000's client list?

What if you enable the 2.4G Guest Network and connect those smart IoT devices to the Guest Network, will they get a stable connection?

I had some previous incorrect setting before on 2.4Ghz that would kill the 2.4Ghz completely, "Short GI enable". When i disabled that, then the 2.4Ghz. Now after some time, the 2.4Ghz has yet again died on me without any explanation or any change I've made. There is currently a tech support case that is ongoing with TP-Link. Sidenote: 2.4Ghz doesnt work on Guest, and on regular. No 2.4Ghz access point is visible on phone or on laptop.

My AX6000 seems to definetly have issues with 2.4Ghz only.

I am waiting on the support case to get in touch with me for solution.
In the mean time; I have configured my old Archer C9 so it is acts as a Access Point for 2.4Ghz.with same SSID name as the 5Ghz on AX6000. This works really good!.

But I am aiming for the long term solution in. Have a functioning AX6000 that promises 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.

I will most likely return back this router if no solution is provided.
