For me, that points at issue with DNS server or general network connectivity issue. Do you run your own DNS server, by any chance?

Also, what is your Main Deco connected to: ISP modem, ISP router? Whatever Main Deco is connected to, please share its brand name and model number.

The main deco is connected to my ISP router, Vodafone-H-500-s-v3.6.13 running its own DHCP server on its own network 192.168.0.1/24, while the Deco is using the network 192.168.68.1/24.

I don't have any DNS server running, and anyway, I don't think the Deco should be so unstable because of an issue with the DNS.

Deco runs Internet connectivity health check, by sending DNS queries. When DNS query fails, Deco might assume Internet connection is down.

Think about it that way: you have device on your home network that performs network health checks. That device alerts you some of its DNS queries are failing. That is never a good sign. If you can figure why it happens and fix the cause, this may fix other issues you observe with Deco mesh and your network.

One of the solutions to reduce Main Deco utilization is to switch Deco mesh to Access Point mode. Currently you have two routers on your home network: in your case that would be Vodafone-H-500-s-v3.6.13 and Main Deco. People usually don't need two routers on their home network. Switching Deco mesh to Access Point mode will leave just Vodafone-H-500-s-v3.6.13 as your home network router. These are the steps: How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

Under normal conditions that what be what I would recommend. I am really reluctant to suggest that in your case: if Deco DNS queries keep failing while in Access Point mode, that will open another really big can of worms, named Smart DHCP and extensively discussed on this forum, for which there is no yet fix for M4R. 

Which means, you should first look at why DNS queries are failing at your home network.

  @ACV I have the same problem. After upgrading to 1.5.5 Build 20220823 Rel. 41353 the DHCP seems to crash. It usually happens when several users use a lots of internet at the same time. The last two times it happened to us was when I was rewinding a tv-program on my smart-tv while the rest of the family did watch stuff on TikTok, YouTube etc. on their phones. First everybody getting a "!" symbol on the WiFi connection on their phones, the ip addresses changes 169.254.x.x, and after some seconds the Deco's is restarting. Really frustrating. The network have been rock stable for over a year, and after the last update this is suddenly happening.

  @ACV I had severe issues with connectivity right after performing the upgrade. I checked the logs as well as it was a lot of invalid beacon reports and my connectivity seemed to be coming up & going down. I have 3 M4R's in a mesh. Thankfully doing a factory reset seems to have solved the problem.

Unfortunately the factory reset also seemed to have wiped out all of the logs

David-TP I have the same problem. After upgrading to 1.5.5 Build 20220823 Rel. 41353 the DHCP seems to crash. Overall Perforrmance went down.

When devices try to connect, it displayed an error message about release IP in DHCO

I've noticed that without a clear reason, some devices remain connected and other are disconnected and it's impossible reconnect to the network for the reason i've wrote before.
To solve the problem, I must switch off the main DECO device and everything is fixed.
At least twice a day i notice this problem

  @ACV Since the release of this firmware, I am also having constant network instability, the network slows down to unusable speeds or devices cant connect to it period. I had this product for over a year before this update and it was perfect, no issues. Now its incredibly frustrating and almost unusable.

I have two Deco M4 at home, and since firmware 1.5 version the internet connection through the Deco network is very unstable, it's impossible e.g. to use a VPN, the streaming quality is really poor, and WhatsApp or FaceTime calls keep breaking up and even disconnecting.

 

I've seen several threads regarding the 100% CPU load issue, but without any solution to it, with excucess pointing to the web UI, trying to avoid the root cause.

 

Just enabling the Deco logs it's obvious that the issue is related to the DHCP service, and I can see constant SIGTERM signals received, causing the udhcpd daemon to die, see the logs and the status sreen-shot bellow. This constant error causes the CPU to be constantlly at 100%, causing the network to be totally unusable.

 

This is clearly a bug, so please try to escalate it and don't give the users lame excuses. All the users are waiting for a real fix for this bug that is going on for a long time.
