Adpaters are likely to be usb2.0 mode when connected to 2.4Ghz wifi band, you could switch to 5Ghz wifi band and see if that makes any difference.

For test purpose, in Adapter property settings, Wireless Mode : Auto >select 802.11ac and see if the device will be in USB 3.0 . In 802.11ac, the adapter will only see 5Ghz Wifis.
If still the same, can I have a photo of the USB 3.0 (error) message on the computer or a photo showing it is recongized as 2.0
