New 1.12.0 firmware makes C80 unusable
New 1.12.0 firmware makes C80 unusable
Hello,
I'm after installing the new firmware (1.12.0 Build 221010 Rel.35508n(4555)) on my C80 and I must say I'm bummed.
My some devices have stopped connecting to WiFi.
When trying to connect, they either don't find the network (doesn't matter if 2.4 or 5 GHz).
Reboot helps. For about an hour.
I did a reset to factory settings. It is the same.
I tried changing security standards (disabling WPA3). No change.
I also reset the network settings on the devices where the problem occurs.
In addition, when trying to configure DHCP, I have no way to set my DNS server. After a reboot, it reverts to the default (first: router IP address, second: 0.0.0.0).
I currently have 24 devices. The problem occurs on 8-9 (different manufacturing dates, different ranges).
What else can I do?
I tried to perform a downgrade, but it is not possible.
Moreover, the firmware I have installed is not visible on the European download page.
Thanks

thanks. DNS from DHCP seems to be working now with beta firmware.
I need more time to see if the rest of the problems have subsided.
Regardless of the aforementioned, since I can't do a firmware downgrade to 1.11, I would suggest releasing the 1.11 firmware as 1.13 if only as a hotfix.

Ok, unfortunately I regret to confirm that despite the new version of the firmware (beta), the problem with WiFi still exists.
Devices cannot connect to the network.
Reboot helps.

Check this post - @iAmSaugata have managed to downgrade from beta FW to v1.11.30 Build 220624 Rel.50807n(5553). Try that and check if this solves the issue.

as I mentioned in my earlier post, I cannot perform firmware downgrade, due to following error:

Well, let's try something else then - create a configuration backup of your C80 (from its WebGUI and also take some notes aside, just in case you can't use this configuration file later).
If the router does not allow downgrade, reset it to factory default settings and configure it again using just a "quick setup". Do not upload previously generated configuration file, but just make a basic configuration, so you can access the device and execute a FW downgrade.
Then try again downgrading to the older FW version - 1.11.30.
If that works, you should use the notes you took. If that doesn't work you can upload the configuration backup file you've created.
Although some FW releases can't be downgraded from, this isn't stated explicitly for the 1.12.0 release, so I hope this can be done.

Hi,
I already have the same issue. I have 3x Deco M4 and 2x Deco M5 for home automation and all is down or messed up, even I checked the network status getting 7-10% packet lost directly connected to router by cable.
The connection is unstable even through cable, I cannot do home work using VPN due to instability. My wife blaming me due to no way to watch Netfilix/Amazon Prime stable... home automation does not answer correctly and finally mi kids are not able to play online games.. fortunately my dog still happy with me :D
Any way to do a firmware downgrade? I tried many times and I got same pop-up that it failed and I guess that is related to the instability of the network ports at router.
I will try to isolate the router from external connections (just PC and Router cables) and let you know the advances.
Thanks to bring up this problem.

Hi,
I tried:
1.- Disconnect all port except my PC to router
2.- Reboot router
3.- Update Firmware to:
- c80v1-up-noboot_2022-04-25_14.47.59
- c80v1-up-noboot1_2022-06-24_14.56.16
4.- Failed same error as before. "Failed to update the firmware. Please check the configuration file and try again."
So Router still working bad.
Any ideas?

mrwogu Thank you very much for the feedback. I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers and please check whether you have got an email from us.
Best regards.
Hi, Since you mentioned Deco, have you tried to unplug Archer C80, then make Deco M5 the main Deco in wireless router mode and the other M5+3*M4 as the satellite Mesh units?
I have checked with the senior engineers, and 1.12.0 could not be downloaded back to the previous 1.11.30 directly. A firmware recovery is needed.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.
