@David-TP thanks for the response, i've temporally gone back to the deco m5 and have spoken to Amazon to return the X50 as can't really justify the price for using as access points and not fully fit for the purpose of being a router. as you also have to pay extra on top to for basic security settings

Hello, yes it is the same problem. I can then not save anything with the rules, it is not adopted. And I can't use the user-defined IP address + MAC address either, since I can only use the DHCP range here.
please help quickly, i can't use the deco like this

Thank you, and I upgraded. But I was specifically needing OpenVPN support on the Deco X50 PoE v1.6. From what I can see, that firmware upgrade does not support it yet, or did I miss it?

Hi, Here are some tips that might help you understand the firmware upgrade of Deco.
You might notice the firmware versions are usually like 1.2.x/1.1.x/1.0.x and 1.7.x/1.6.x.1.5.x/1.4.x etc.
Currently, you could think 1.1.x is on the same level as 1.6.x which supports some similar features, like reboot schedule, connection preference and NO-IP and DynDNS.
1.2.x, which supports VPN server/client and IOT network, MTU is on a higher level than 1.1.x/1.6.x. so the 1.1.0 on Deco X50-POE still does not add VPN feature yet.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@Mbauer5 Hi Mark, I am currently testing a new beta that solves most of the vpn issues (well for me it does anyway)
1.2.0 Build 20230426 Rel. 39156
I do notice though that the VPN tunnel speed is still slow, 20 mbits max via the tunnel. That could be a CPU hit on the encrypted tunnel. Trying to add features retrospectively is always difficult when maybe the specs were built based on its original feature set.
I suspect if we cant increase the VPN tunnel speed, that it wont be good enough for lots of people.
Will let you know when we have done some more testing.

Thanks Ian that sounds like solid progress.
Believe it or not, my internet connection is only 40 mbits in each direction, so I might not notice the performance hit!
Thanks

Hi @David-TP
Any update on this?
I recently bought deco x50 v1.20 (hardware version) and I would need this Connection Preference feature for clients.
(When) are we going to get features of V1 to V1.20?
8. Added support for customizing clients Connection Preference under Deco App > CLIENTS > Select the client > Click the gear icon on the right-up corner > Connection Preference.

@Mbauer5 After further testing re the tun0 speed, it appears to be per client. i.e I can have multiple clients all downloading simultaneously via the vpn and each one seems to hit around 20 mbits.
Maybe thats something we can look at.
CPU wise the unit does appear to have plenty of capacity available during heavy usage on the vpn.
Mem: 274972K used, 123272K free, 0K shrd, 547634616800K buff, 367499130424K ca
CPU: 4% usr 6% sys 0% nic 84% idle 0% io 0% irq 4% sirq
Not much going on there.
I will play around with parental controls and the anti malware services, maybe they are trying to inspect the traffic, possibly the encryption on the tunnel is having an impact.
VPN hasn't dropped at all though over 3 days, very stable which is great.
I think if this version gets to a release, it would be fine for you based on your current internet speeds.
