X20 Configuration Question

Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

My network is three X20s two of which are Model X20(US) Version 2.0 with the third being a Model X20(US) Version 1.20. One of the Version 2.0 units serves as the router connected to my cable modem with one Version 2.0 and one Version 1.20 serving as access points, both of which are backhauled. Green lights all around but I'm curious whether mixing the two versions in the same network is potentially troublesome. Thanks.

Hi, No, all Deco models are compatible with each other and they should work well in a mixed Mesh network.

But I do suggest using Deco X20 V1.2 as the main Deco.

Best regards.

I shall change my network so that the X20 V1.2 is the main Deco (router) as you suggest, but I would like to understand why. Thanks for your assistance

Hi, Normally, the features supported on the Deco APP follow the main Deco.  For example. X20 V1.2 supports "Test internet speed" while Deco X20 v2 does not. You might not see this feature on the APP when Deco X20 V2 is the main Deco.

But I noticed you mentioned Deco X20 was in the Access Point mode, not the default wireless router mode. There are fewer differences among different models when they are in AP mode. In this way, both V1.2 and V2 would be suggested to be set up as the main Deco.

Thank you very much.
