Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20211125 rel.59476(4555)

I've not been able to update my AX73's firmware.

Using the option in the web GUI, it does the following:

Downloads firmware (progress 0-100%)
Upgrades firmware (progress 0-100%)
Reboots

After this, the firmware is still the old version.

I've tried manually uploading the firmware from this page https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/download/archer-ax73/v1/#Firmware and uploading it explicitly, with the same result.

I've tried doing a hard factory reset (hold reset button down until the router reboots) and updating the firmware. Same result.

I've tried updating the firmware in recovery mode as described here https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1482/

Same result.

Is there any way I can update the firmware on this device or is it defective?

I have no idea why this worked, but I managed to update to 1.2.1 Build 20220121 rel.75144(4555) (which isn't the latest firmware).

I backed up my settings.

I unplugged my router and moved it, disconnecting from the power for a few seconds. I don't know if that's got anything to do with it.

I did a hard reset by holding down the reset button with a pin until all the lights went out.

I re-flashed my router by manually downloading and uploading the firmware to the same version (1.1.0 Build 20211125 rel.59476(4555)).

It magically "worked" and put up a dialog saying "Firmware updated, please confirm you're connected before clicking the 'Connected' button".

I then tried downloading and uploading the 1.2.1 Build 20220121 rel.75144(4555) firmware. This worked.

I still can't update to the latest firmware. The behaviour is a bit weird now.

The firmware upgrade progess goes through three stages: "Uploading" -> "Updating" -> "Rebooting". I've noticed now that the "Uploading" process doesn't actually complete, it just sits there at 0% and then it goes straight to "Updating". Something's weird.
