Morning,

I setup my Deco X55 with a L2TP/IPSec server VPN and I only get around 15MB up/down speed (connected at the same Wireless wifi at home). My connection is 300MB up/down, so I would like to know if this "low" speed is because a hardware limitation on the decos or for some other reason. I tested it with openVPN server and the results are quite the same.

Do you set up Deco X55 itself as L2TP/IPsec/openVPN server during the test?

Is "15 m/s upload/download" the computer's internet speed after it is enabled the VPN connection to Deco X55? And this PC is also connected to the WiFi of Deco X55?

  @David-TP Exactly, I just get 15MB speed up/down when I connected to the Wifi of my Deco X55 with my iphone 12 or Surface Laptop with L2TP/IPsec/openVPN server enabled. Without VPN I get the full speed I have, 300MB up/down.

Now I want to perform the test connected outside from my home Wifi, but I guess the speed will decrease more... will see.

Any suggestion?

  @Whitesnake, Hi, Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Sorry for the delay.

I checked your case with the senior engineer and he explained to me that when the device is connected to the VPN server, the network traffic data will get through the VPN tunnel first. So I think the current tested speed is 15m/s for the VPN connection, which is the expected speed when Deco X55 works as the VPN server.

  @David-TP Thanks for your kindly reply. So yes, what I understood that this speed between 15/20MB up/down is because a hardware (processor/ram) limitation of de decos. I just made the test away from home and I get the same results when connected to my X55 server VPN.
