MR600 v3 - Switzerland - 4G+ on and off
Hi,
The 4G+ LED on my MR600 v3 regularly switches between on and off.
Network Mode is 4G Only. Selected Manual Bands are 3 and 20 (Sunrise - Switzerland). ISP settings shd be correct and current (ISP File 23021501).
DL and UL speed varies considerably (despite 100% signal strength), e.g. some 65 Mbps DL / 36Mbps UL initially (at 20:50h) and 20Mbps DL / 33 Mbps UL some hours later (00:34h), then 47Mbps DL and 32Mbps UL (00:43h).
System Log also shows constant switching between LTE and LTE Plus, e.g. as follows:
3 | 2023-03-25 00:43:45 | 4G | Information | USER: Network type is LTE. |
4 | 2023-03-25 00:43:11 | 4G | Information | USER: Network type is LTE PLUS. |
5 | 2023-03-25 00:43:11 | 4G | Information | USER: Network type is LTE. |
6 | 2023-03-25 00:43:10 | 4G | Information | USER: Network type is LTE PLUS. |
7 | 2023-03-25 00:43:09 | 4G | Information | USER: Network type is LTE. |
8 | 2023-03-25 00:43:08 | 4G | Information | USER: Network type is LTE PLUS. |
Is there a way to get more stable DL/UL speeds / force 4G+?
Thanks,
Gerald

Hi, MR600 is LTE Advanced Cat6 product which could only aggregate two bands at most, while smartphones now support much higher LTE category such as Cat 18, Cat19 etc. or even 5G, that is why the smartphone speed might be higher than the MR600.
If possible, it is recommended to compare two Cat6 products.

Hi, the issue is actually kind of different in your case since your Huawei phone never shows 4G+, please check the latest reply regarding your case:

thank you for the hints , and here's what I did:
my phone is an iPhone 6s which is rated capable of 2CA .
Inserting the Very Mobile (Windtre) SIM into the iPhone and performing Apple's Field Test only shows one band although the base band tower is rated to 2CA
I suspect the the Sim is limited to 4g, so no CA ?
I ordered a new SIM card officially rated to 4g+ and 300Mb/sec (2x150 Mb/sec) max speed, and I'll test it with the MR600 V3; at that point it should show 2 bands and a decent speed.
I'll be back very very soon

Hi, thank you very much for the reply.
Usually iPhone doesn't show 4G+ directly, you could enable phone hotspot and connect the same client device to the phone hotspot to test the internet speed, then compare the speed with the MR600(wired speed or 5G WiFi speed)

Hi All,
For carrier aggregation/4G+ issue, please refer to this post: Carrier Aggregation or 4G+ doesn’t work properly on LTE Advanced Router

Sorry for the delay,
Ok I put a certified 4G+ SIM cards into the MR600V3 and did a lot of tests, manually forcing different band combinations such as B1+B3, B1+B7, B3+B7 and so on ...
Nothing changed, Advanced>Status always showed only one band, and the log showed LTE plus come and go as usual.
Nearly fed up I set the band selection back to Auto and tried performing an external Ookla speed test and immediately refreshing the Status page ...
BINGO ! The bands 1+3 appeared at once and stayed on for the duration of the test, to return to one single band when idling. Did that a number of times, same behavior.
To cut it short. I think that there is no fault in the FW , CA comes on when needed , otherwise it defaults to single band, and that is sensible in my opinion.
My MR600 uses the small std antennas and sits close to a windows, in the middle of a triangle with 3 good towers ranging from 400m to 1100m , with high buildings in the way, so RSRP is not good enough, that's why speed is not astonishing, lots of disturbing noise all around I think ? My iPhone 6s performs accordingly , attaining the same speed level, while improved to 50/20 Mb/s very close to one tower.
For me this is enough. This forum has been of great help ,,,, Next move will be a pair of log directional antennas at 45-135 deg pointing toward one of the three towers, to cut out the others.

So far so good.
Nice product the MR600, but there's a big big big complaint: it doesnt show the Cell Id !
With that the MR600 would a PERFECT product
Without that , it's OK but tuning any dirctional antenna is a nightmare ... and you need some dedicated instrumentation.
Can the development team do something about tah?
Regards
