My 3-unit Deco X50 system insists on selecting an overcrowded 5G channel with strong interference from neighboring WiFi networks, severely degrading network performance in one of the locations where interference is most prominent. Looking at the network analyzer app on my phone in the affected location, there are channels with no interference whatsoever which are consistently never selected by Deco. Invoking "Network Optimization" from the app doesn't help. See image below.

I suspect that the root cause might be that Deco is refraining from using the vacant channels due to erroneous business logic related to local regulation. The vacant channel band is allowed by the local regulation.

Some further details that could be of interest:

  • Deco operates in AP mode.
  • Deco is configured with 160 MHz channel width.
  • Wired backhaul between units.
  • HW version is EU (ver. 1).

---

*** EDIT: the root cause is that Deco X50 EU HW version supports a narrow 5G channel band according to the user guide, likely because it doesn't support DFS. This is a severe limitation. Buyers beware.

In the above image, orange is one of my Deco units, while cyan, brown and magenta are neighboring networks.

  @RodDex

Hi, Thanks a lot for the details.

Since you have the EU version, so far, the EU version of Decos does not support UNII-3(149-165).

And for Deco X50 V1, its 5Ghz supports UNII-1 and part of the DFS channels(UNII-2a channel 52-64), but not UNII-2c channels yet.

Best regards.
