WiFi - Default 20Mhz channel on 2.4Ghz Band
1. Issue: IoT devices Tuya, Espressif, Raspberry etc facing continuous WiFi disconnection due to background noise in 2.4ghz band. By default Deco use 40Mhz width for communication currently makes entire network unstable (connection drop every 1-3 hours), even devices are only max 3-4 meter apart. Also smartphone sometimes switch to 2.4Ghz for some reason link are over 150Mpbs or 200Mbps but real speed are 4-11Mbps.
2. But when same IoT devices connect to 20Mhz width 2.4ghz (wr740n) even Deco network running in background frequent network gone like it's never exist. Ex - Devices Connected for over 4month seamlessly even a single connection drop and over 17meter apart, smartphone link are 72Mbps and [real 58Mbps].
3. Conclusion: People are requesting for manual channel selection in Deco model which not going to fix this issue, Also sometimes Deco switch to 20Mhz rarely which create same situation like wr740n. The issue is not channel it's the channel width.

Apple also recommends using 20MHz for the 2.4GHz band.
- Set to 20MHz for the 2.4GHz band
- Set to Auto or all widths for 5GHz and 6GHz bands
Channel width specifies how large of a “pipe” is available to transfer data. Wider channels are faster but more susceptible to interference and more likely to interfere with other devices.
- 20MHz for the 2.4GHz band helps to avoid performance and reliability issues, especially near other Wi-Fi networks and 2.4GHz devices, including Bluetooth devices.
- Auto or all channel widths for 5GHz and 6GHz bands ensures the best performance and compatibility with all devices. Wireless interference is less of a concern in these bands.

I agree. They should let us choose 20 MHz.
Increasing WiFi channel width more than 20 MHz when using 2.4 GHz is often not worth it because it can lead to increased interference with other devices using the same spectrum.
This is because 2.4 GHz is a shared spectrum that is also used by other devices such as Bluetooth, microwaves, and other WiFi networks.
When you increase the channel width, you are effectively increasing the amount of spectrum that your network is using, which can lead to more interference and a decrease in overall network performance.
Additionally, some devices may not support channel widths greater than 20 MHz, which can also limit the benefits of increasing the channel width.

I agree also, I am astonished that you can't change the channel width on the 2.4ghz band it's something fundamental even the likes of Apple are recommending.

@Alexmesh, as for the 5Ghz bandwidth, since PX50 supports 160mhz which is based on some DFS channels, so there is an option on the Deco APP to choose whether to use 80mhz or 160mhz. For the non-160mhz models, there is also no option to change the 5Ghz bandwidth.

I'm concerned as this feature has been requested a number of times on here over the years yet nothing even becomes of it. I'm guessing some higher up decides that it's not going to happen but It's one of those things that makes me want to return the mesh to amazon. You could argue that most people don't know what 20 vs 40MHz even means but most people would get fed up and return a product if there are connection problems that other wifi kit doesn't have.
I am having problems with the 2.4ghz band in terms of devices loosing connection and bluetooth connectivity issues but with no option to change to 20MHz I'm a bit stuck. I am in a very congested area for wifi and from reading online this is a big no-no for 40MHz on 2.4GHz.
The deco doesn't appear to conform to standards to fall back to 20MHz mode too or select an approved bonding channel which according to what I've read online is part of the good neighbor policy in the standards.

@tp-link we need 20Mhz on 2.4Ghz, can you provide this on new firmware?
I buy Deco M4R 3pack to solve the problems with my wifi, and after install it I have more problems, more disconnections that I have before with ISP router.
If you don't have implementation date to 20Mhz on 2.4Ghz, I will return Deco M4 to amazon...

if providing an option to switch is not possible at least make the 2.4ghz to use 20mhz only. please release an update for this asap. thank you.

@realivanjx It's nuts they haven't implemented this yet, they claim other mesh systems don't allow for such manual control yet ones with those options do exist such as the Netgear Orbi, they even allow for manual channel changes too. The wifi in my area is heavily congested and it makes no sense to be using wide channel widths.

indeed. and they also have to disable the hidden network that is used as a backhaul when i dont even have any secondary deco devices yet. also disable that when i completely use the ethernet backhaul.
