Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.2.5 Build 20240106 Rel. 2319

The Deco X60 product appears to have a firmware issue. Upon starting or rebooting the device, the WiFi correctly initiates the 5GHz network with a bandwidth of 160MHz. However, after a few hours of use, sometimes exceeding 8 hours, the bandwidth is reduced to 80MHz, effectively halving the connection speed. This issue has persisted across previous firmware versions. I have another Deco X90 on the network, and it has never exhibited this behavior.

After restart:

I wish for this issue to be resolved. The device has been functioning like this since it was purchased, and it's quite possible that you are aware of this problem.

Have you tried to set to WPA2? As I know WPA3 is very consuming on the device for it to decipher the encrypted code.

No, after all I paid for a device that supports WPA3 and 160MHz. It should work like this.

Then do everyone who is using X60 a favour by logging this with a report and attached log and screenshot through the DECO app. It will help to fix it faster and quicker if its made known to the engineers.

I'm putting the entire log inside a zip file because the attachment function does not permit a raw log as attachment.

Just for the record, I restarted the Deco System, and the Deco X60 worked as expected for less than one hour. Once the error occurred, I captured the logs, so if anything was recorded, it was at least within the last three minutes of the log. A
Also, I don't know if it's relevant or a coincidence, but it happened right after I turned off the last AX device connected to WIFI. Then, the 5GHz band of the X60 dropped and came back at a width of 80MHz

Enjoy!

You may kindly private message David to send him the log file, or directly email TP-Link support team inorder for them to handover this log report to the engineers.

I do not have the expertise neither the experience in reading this logs, and I don't think any average users of Deco or  even Archer series might be able to comphrehend what's written in the log.

Therefore, either you roll back to previous firmware or keep trying other region firmwares, as I notice there is EU and US version firmwares for V3 hardware revisions.

Is either you live with it or adjust yourself to the constant 80Mhz, there's nothing much can be done since there is no open community support like WRT firmwares.

Hi, Thank you very much for your message.

For Deco X60(1-pack)(US)-V3-1.2.5, its 5GHz supports band 1+ band 2(channel 36-64). When the 5GHz is on 160mhz, it would use 4 consecutive channels:38-46-54-62.

The last 2 channels are DFS channel that are also used by radar systems, such as weather, military, and airport radars. To avoid interfering with these systems, WLAN devices that operate on DFS channels must detect the presence of radar signals and switch to another channel if they encounter one. So it would automatically drop to 38-46 80mhz.

I see the 5Ghz of Deco X90 also uses band 1+ band 2+band4(channel 36-64,149-165). the only 4 consecutive channels are also :38-46-54-62.

Generally Deco X90 in the same Mesh might have the same issue.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thank you very much, David! It's quite strange that the Deco X90 and X60 are on the same mesh network, but the X90 has never, under any circumstances, reduced the bandwidth to 80MHz. To be completely honest, I am far from any kind of radar where I live. So, what is happening with the X60 doesn't make sense. At the moment, I've been running on the 160MHz band for over 8 hours after restarting the X60. This means my laptop is currently connected at 2401Mbps, and the X60 will stay like this until I turn off my laptop, and there are no devices using the 160MHz band anymore. Then, in a few minutes, the 5GHz network will restart. This can't be right.
