Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2

Hi Support

I live in Germany and have Deco HW 1.2 and updated to latest firmware 1 week ago.

Initially i was using parental control but kids worked around it by disconnecting from wifi so they got a new MAC address and then client was not assigned to a kid profile or default profile so they bypassed the parental control (would be great to have new clients assigned to a default profile because then i could set time limits on this profile).

As suggested by support i moved to "Allow-lists" and parental control works for for wifi. Problem is that laptops are wired due to conference calls and hence this bypasses time-limits. I have also try to use the block function manually on profile but also this does not work.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

Sincerely,

Staale

  @staale12345

Hi, Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Are you able to constantly reproduce this issue?

Parental control profile rules should work for the wired clients.

The WiFi Access Control>Allow list doesn't work for wired clients though and they will be on the whitelist all the time.

Did you check whether the Ethernet MAC address might be changed and is different from the one under the Parental Control profile?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hello

I have confirmed that parental control does not work for wired clients.

Deco X50

V1.2 (bought in Germany 3 months ago)

Latest firmware updated based on download on German version (checked again today and no new version available)

latest deco app on iphone

I use allow-list if not then they just automatically generate new MAC and avoid parental control (would be amazing if new clients got auto assigned to a group by default and we could apply limits on this (e.g. when they have friends etc)

I have the laptop assigned to a group and auto turn off at 22.30. Client shows up as wired and clients using wifi is blocked but not the laptop. I even try to manually block device and user (group) but does not work.

Please let me know if there is something I can send to help debug or if you need more info.

Sincerely,

Staale
