Model: Deco S4
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

I have a mesh system at home consisting of three S4 Deco devices. Until recently they have all been working fine and wired/connected vie Ethernet Backhaul in the followith setup:

ICP router - Main Deco - Deco #2 - Deco #3 (all daisy-chained)

However, recentrly I installed a CCTV and though it would be simple to connect via a switch (one that this forum says is supported) which is when the problem started and i lost EB connectivity between Main Deco and Deco #2. I can only get them to connect via Wireless Blackhaul.

The setup that I am trying to make work is literally just install a switch between the two deco's mentined above, so want to have:

ICP router - Main Deco - Switch - Deco #2 - Deco #3

I was reading the forums and know about the fact that the switch need to support IEEE 1905.1, hence I started trying out diferent switches, none of which seem to work. I have tried:

TL-SG108S

D-link DGS-108/B

PHOENIX CONTACT - FL SWITCH SFNB 8TX

Please help, as the only option I have is trial and error

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

TL-SG108S should work well with Ethernet Backhaul on Deco.

Did Deco S4 work in Acess Point mode?

Could you please help me run a simple test:

change the network topology a little bit, such as:

ICP router - Main Deco - Switch - Deco #2

                                                   \- Deco #3

Would both Deco #2 and #3 only work via Wi-Fi Backhaul?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks for your response!

The issue is the fact that Deco #2 and Deco #3 are about 30m appart, one in the house and the other one in the office at the rear of the garden. When I disconnect the daisy link Deco #3 (office) looses comms completely. While Main Deco and Deco #2 can only connect via WB (see photo attached)

I have tested the cables with a cable tester and also daisy chained all the Deco's and EV works fine, but as soon as I add the switch between the Main Deco and Deco #2 only WB is possible between these two (obviously tried rebooting the network several times).

The router I have is Virgin Media Hub 3.0 and yes it work in AP mode.

See also a photo of the app showing EB all working fine when all Decos are daisy-chained.
