Archer VX1800v DSL not working
Archer VX1800v DSL not working
I wanted to switch from an old ADSL modem (that was barely working, giving us only 16mbps download when we are supposed to have 50) provided by my ISP to this new Modem Router from TP-Link. I got it on Tuesday and when I tried connecting, did the quick setup, but the DSL light didn't come up. I called my ISP and was asking what could be the problem, after some hours of calling off and on (I talked with like 4 people that all gave me a different answer) I got an answer that the modem is wrongly setup, and that I should follow the settings on their page and use those, then it should be fine, if not then I should contact TP-link support. So I left it until today, today I spent around 3 hours tinkering around with it, I swear I did everything that was shown on that page but I can't seem to be able to connect to the Internet. The DSL light just doesn't come up, it says Line Status Disconnected and DSL Disabled in all different tabs. I need some help. This pic is all that is in the ISP table for settings. My ISP is Vodafone

@pandamidar Issue was at ISP side. Some technician finally restarted the DSL line or something like that and it booted up just fine.

You won't receive WAN IP address unless you configure correctly the PPPoE connection and the DSL settings.
From what you posted the PPPoE connection should look like this (if you use VDSL) :
Don't forget to click on Save button.
According DSL settings (yours may look different) in general:
If you are not able to configure the modem, you should probably request a visit from their technician or bring the modem in their office so they would configure for you.

Also I am actually not sure if we are supposed to have VDSL, as the last modem only supported ADSL2+. But our internet plan is 50mbsp which I think is only possible through VDSL not ADSL right?
Also to add, I called my ISP today and tried confirming that I did the setup correctly, I very quickly went through the Quick Setup with them, and they told me that how I did it should be fine but it still doesn't work. What they told me after is either that some other settings are wrong, that I missed something or that the Modem doesn't work and to return it.

You must clarify with them which service you're using ADSL or VDSL - their settings are different.
The default gateway should be the name of the PPPoE connection as you mentioned.
There's no other settings related to your ISP than Internet connection (PPPoE) and DSL settings.
You already know what to do and if after all you can't use the modem then you should probably return it.

Well that sucks :/ So what is wrong? Is it the Firmware or the Modem itself somehow broken? I got it new and saw it got released not a long time ago so I thought it would be compatible with everything and work easily. Is there nothing else to try?

Hi, thanks for posting question here.
So sorry to hear that you always failed to configure the new modem router.
If you still keep the device, it is suggested to follow this guide to troubleshoot.
Also, for PPPoE connection type, as I know, the username must be like a email address. XXXX@XXXX

@Marvin_S Wdym failed to configure? Are the settings wrong in the pictures I sent? I already followed that guide, the device supports all the VDSL stuff, but it doesn't have ANNEX B for ADSL, which shouldn't matter if we have VDSL no? And ofc I tried restarting the modem many times.
The username is in the picture I sent, it is supposed to be vf, I asked my ISP many times also if the username is right and they said yes, the old modem that is working has VF username set in it.

Hi, sorry to hear that. If you have checked this guide but the DSL led is still off or flashing, it is suggested to contact your ISP for further confirmation.
