Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.6.1

Hi

I have a p1p Bambulab 3d printer with has an old wifi chip which supports only 2.4ghz. I read a lot on internet about connection issues of this printer. This is what I did;

I have seperated my wifi in two different SSIDs which one has only 5g band and the other one only 2.4ghz. When I try to sync the printer and my phone together I get an error message. I saw a video about IoT but I see nowhere in my deco app anything like that! There was a "beamforming" in Dutch and turning it off didn't help.

Any idea where that IoT in new deco app is? or any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I guess you may have tried the 2.4G guest network before and failed, because the guest network and the main network are isolated by default.
M4 does not currently support IoT networks. But here are some suggestions you could give it a try:
1. Temporarily turn off 5Ghz under the main network.
2. Disable "fast roaming" under Deco APP > More > Advanced.

Hi

My main network is indeed 5g and guest network 2.4. I was going to turn off my main 5g wifi right now and then try to give printer the specific guest network and saw you suggested the same :-) I'll disable the fast roaming as you suggested and post the result soon.

Thank you

Didn't work. I'm not an IT guy but read both bands 5 and 2.4ghz are actually not seperatable without IoT option. If that's the case there's no solution for my problem! Right?

Hi

The following suggestions are for your reference:
1. You could check whether the main network SSID (network name) and password of Deco contain special characters. Please try changing a simple name and password.
2. Please temporarily go to Deco APP > more > Wi-Fi settings >click the Wi-Fi and choose advanced to disable 5G. Then please test whether the printer can connect to the main network.
Please don't worry, we are just temporarily turning off 5G on the main network. You can turn on 5G again after the printer successfully connects to the main network

Thanks for reply. I did all that yesterday with no success. I read about my specific type of deco M4 and it seems this model has very weak 2.4ghz. Many users have issues with M4 and old devices which use 2.4 only. I got them from Ziggo and modem is Arris. It seems the modem can have a guest network 2.4 which uses another SSID seperated from deco.

Hi

If the printer can successfully connect to Arris's 2.4G guest network, please try setting the same SSID, password, and encryption type on Deco's 2.4G guest network.
In addition, I would like to confirm that neither Deco's 2.4G main network nor the 2.4G guest network can connect?

Problem solved!

If you have Ziggo delivered Deco M4 you should know these devices don't broadcast 2.4ghz even the deco app says so (or very weak signal that a device in 40cm distance from the deco is unable to get the signal).

I finally managed to connect directly to Ziggo modem. Just give SSIDs different simple names (they are same in default setting of connect box) and perhaps giving the 2.4ghz a specific channel (set from automatic to manual) helps.

Thanks everybody especially Joseph
