Hi,

I am having problems with cameras dropping off the network. I trace the problem to DECO routing packets incorrectly.

This is the scenario Image attached network map below)

master 6e is the gateway out to the internet

server room 6e has a server connected to it via ethernet

Study is connected via ethernet to serverroom6e (and is an S7 unit - 6e is and gateway are xe75 pro)

CCTV camera connects to study wifi and PC connected to study via ethernet can access/ping it fine. Server connected to serverroom6e via ethernet cannot. In fact, traceroute via server connected to serverroom6e shows packets for local subnet 192.168.2.x are being sent out of the internet gateway (so never get answered). Same ping via local PC connected to study deco works as it should. I tried forcing wifi camera to connect to serverroom6e, which is says it has in the app, but the same still applies. See below pings/traces

Why are DECO units trying to route packets for the local subnet out of the default router instead of via the appropriate deco?

Please let me know if you need any further information.

I've tried disabling the mesh for those devices. Sometimes they work for a while, then stop with this routing issue. It is not the devices. Thanks.

Hi, Nice to see you again.

When you mentioned in the beginning that "I am having problems with cameras dropping off the network."

- Do you the CCTV camera is randomly disconnected from the local server?

- As for the "local server" here, is it like a management tool where you could constantly live view the CCTV camera?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

Do you the CCTV camera is randomly disconnected from the local server?

yes, a couple, as well as possibly some other media type devices, Chromecast, Squeezebox.

- As for the "local server" here, is it like a management tool where you could constantly live view the CCTV camera?

It is a windows server, but yes - It records video from the cameras, and plays media to the rest of the house

I had at first thought it was a wifi issue, but when I eventually got around to trouble shooting it, I find that when the devices drop, they have not  dropped their wifi connections to the decos, it's just that other devices connected to certain DECO's can no longer reach them, whilst devices on the same DECO can. If you are connected to the same DECO that the device is connected to, you can reach the device. DECO that is not the DECO the device is connected to sends packets for that IP out to the router and beyond, rather than via the deco the device is connected to.

The problem is sporadic, btw - Sometimes they will work for a day, drop for a day, etc. They come and go!  But, I have replicated and tested several times now. When the camera goes off, I can still access it from here, just not the server. It's rather intermittant
