Model: Archer Air R5
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3

Hi,

I've recently bought the TP-Link Archer Air R5+2x E5 Mesh Wi-Fi-system (3-pack). My apartment has really thick concrete walls and therefore my wifi doesn't reach throughout the apartment.

I connected the mesh router to my modem (as per the intstructions) and set out the nodes in position. Everything works fine for an hour, after that the internet disconnect both on Wifi and through ethernet cables that are attached to my pc.

If I pull out the ethernet cable on my pc and connect it again, internet comes back. Same on the mesh router, if I just reconnect the ethernet cable everything works fine for an hour, and then it disconnects again.

Led on the mesh router goes from blue to red. I was logged in on the mesh router when it disconnected and it just said that internet was lost.

Can someone help me with this one, it rubs me the wrong way and I cannot figure out how to fix it.

  @LQueen  Try moving the mesh satelites closer, and then check if it keep getting disconected. in my experience it fixes it.

  @Char-lie  Hi, Its not the mesh satellites that looses internet first, its the mesh router that sits just below my modem.

The satellites are at a range of maximum 10 meters (32.8 feet), and they connect perfectly. I did put one of them further away in the beginning but had to relocate it closer cause of the distance.

  @Char-lie no its wifi only.

The mesh router is connected to my modem through ethernetcable and the nodes are just wifi connected to the mesh router. The two pcs at home are connected through ethernetcable to my modem.

My modem itself does not lose internet connection, all of the lights are green. Even so, the mesh router turns red and loses internet so no wifi is available(reconnect the cable and its back up), and my pcs loses internet (also need to reconnect the cable) even though the modem is fine.

I have a thought that it might be the modem having dynamic IP, I'm not completly sure cause I can't admin it on my own, but I don't know if this have any effect on it.

Check your DHCP server >Address Lease Time, from the router interface. It might be set to 60 minutes. I'm not with the mesh devices but I'd look at their settings for something similar.

  @LQueen

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

Does your modem have wireless function or is it a modem router actually?

The easiest test is to connect PC to your modem directly when the internet drops. If there is no internet access from the PC, it usually means the modem is unstable, instead of the router. So for your situation, it is suggested to contact your ISP to take further check.

Or if you have an old router, you may compare it and the mesh router.
