BE85 (BE22000) MLO Issue with iPhone 16 pro(WiFi7)
BE85 (BE22000) MLO Issue with iPhone 16 pro(WiFi7)
Hi, TP Link users.
I am using the TP Link BE85 (BE22000) in Japan.
When I connect the recently released iPhone 16 Pro to the BE85 using MLO, a problem occurs.
When connected via MLO, all other devices connected on 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz are disconnected.
Of course, the iPhone 16 Pro also gets disconnected.
Then, my entire home network goes down for several minutes.
This only happens when the iPhone 16 Pro is connected to the BE85 using MLO.
The issue does not occur when the iPhone 16 Pro is connected to 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or 6GHz individually.
Multiple users on Japanese forums have also reported similar symptoms.
TP Link support in Japan says this is an iOS 18 issue.
However, I suspect this issue might be occurring only with BE85 units in Japan.
Have any users in other countries encountered a similar problem?

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.
Can you share a link of the feedback on the Japanese forums'"Multiple users on Japanese forums have also reported similar symptoms"? Thank you very much!
I have reported to the senior engineer and if there is any further news, I will also update here as soon as possible。
And the latest firmware for Deco BE85_V2 should be 1.0.21, please also go to Deco APP>More>System>Update Deco to see whether there is any newer firmware available.
By the way, have you noticed any LED changes during the disconnection, such as green-yellow-red-green again(it looks like the system is restarting)?
Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi, David-san.
Thank you very much for your reply.
> Can you share a link of the feedback
Since there is no official TP-LINK community forum in Japanese, we were discussing on a product review site's(kakaku com) message board.
Three people have reported issues with the iPhone 16 Pro series.
I apologize, but I was unable to share the message board URL.
I received an error message stating: "Content or title contains illegal external links."
> latest firmware for Deco BE85_V2latest firmware for Deco BE85_V2
I tried updating the firmware, but it was already on the latest version.
The latest firmware for the BE85 model intended for Japan is "1.0.15 Build 20240123 Rel. 70835".
The firmware version for Japan appears to be significantly behind the versions available in other countries.
> any LED changes
Yes, I have noticed changes in the LED during the disconnection.
The pattern is as follows:
- The LED is green during normal operation.
- When connect iphone 16 pro max by MLO then all WiFi connections are lost, the LED turns yellow-green. (no blinking)
- After about 2 minutes, the LED returns to green, and the WiFi connection is restored.
In addition to the previous information, there's an update:
Not only does the WiFi disconnect, but the wired Ethernet connection is also cut off.
I will describe the steps to reproduce the issue:
- Enable MLO on the BE85 model intended for the Japanese market.
- Connect to the BE85's MLO SSID using an iPhone 16 Pro (or Pro Max) intended for the Japanese market.
- A few seconds after, the issue occurs. (7 out of 10 times)
And, I have attached system logs of the BE85 captured immediately after reconnection.
The time zone is JST.
09/25/2024 9:13:30 PM (Connection established between BE85 and iPhone 16 pro max)
09/25/2024 9:16:54 PM (Log captured after reconnection)

Thank you for your response.
In my personal opinion, I believe that the crash bug fix for MLO included in version 1.0.18 might be related to the current issue we're experiencing.
However, since the latest firmware for Japan is still at version 1.0.15, I think this is why we're seeing some users encountering this problem specifically in Japan.
I'm really hoping the Japanese team can roll out that firmware update soon.
You see, I got the BE85 because I was looking forward to using the WiFi 7 features, including MLO.
So I'm pretty keen on getting this sorted out.
Thank you very much.

Is it issue only with BE85 Japanese version before update, or BE65 is also affected? I have 2xBE65 (hardware V1) in bridge mode with firmware 1.0.8 in Japan.
From changelog of older 1.0.7 it says something fixed about MLO. Does it means this issue is already fixed for BE65 with latest firmware 1.0.8?

I definitely seem to be experiencing the same crash with a BE75, also in Japan.
Attempting to connect to the MLO network crashes the device, as in the original post.
The latest firmware is something like 6 months old, so if there is a fix it hasn't been backported yet.

@NoAngel Thanks for your time and patience. Deco BE65(JP)_V1 with the latest firmware 1.0.8 Build 20240723 Rel. 26458 should be affected.
Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback. The current firmware Deco BE75(JP)_v1 is 1.0.4 Build 20240124 which is slightly left behind the latest 1.0.6 Build 20240725 version.
I've sent a beta firmware for Deco BE75 via Private Message. Could you please help me check whether it helps or not?
Wait for your reply and best regards.

@edama-mikan
I can definitely confirm this with my newly purchased BE75 units. (a pair)
Using mostly default settings an AP is created in 3 names eg. - ap / ap_6G / ap_MLO.
I have 4 MacBooks/iMac and a pair of Wifi6 iPhones connected to ap_MLO, and everything is fine.
When an iPhone 16 Pro Max connects to `ap_MLO`, BE75 seemingly panics? and kicks all devices off the network.
This happens with both the units so I believe this is not a defect unit issue, rather a software issue affecting everybody.
When the Wifi7 iPhone connects to ap_6G, everything is cool.
Is this issue being addressed?
If there is no official cure for this I am returning the units to Amazon.
