VPN Disconnect Loses All Connectivity
I previously had good luck running site to site VPNs with TL-DR600VPNs, until they were compromised. So I told a friend to buy a couple of ER605s for his home and office. At the store, he was taken in by the marketing, and got a couple of new Archer BE6500s instead! LOL... They still offer VPN connectivity, though.
So I set them up with OpenVPN. The connections work fine, but what I've found is that when a VPN client (the other BE6500 or a software client) disconnects, the BE6500 at the office goes down completely. There isn't much connected to it, but everything in the office loses connectivity for around seven to ten minutes or so. Then the router comes back up and all devices reconnect. You can also reconnect the OpenVPN client... until you disconnect again.
I saw this was being investigated a couple of years ago with the ER605s. Has any fix been found? I suppose a stop-gap measure would be to never disconnect, but that will be impractical for a software client that's mobile...
