EasyMesh - EX511 - Why no tinkering allowed with the Easymesh Satellite Devices?
"Why no tinkering allowed with the Easymesh Satellite Devices?"
Recently I set up a Mesh Home Network with five EX511 Routers.
On my first attempt all my Devices had Firmware Build 230321.
I set 1 device as Router and set the other 4 as APs.
Connected all device via ethernet cable (ethernet backhaul).
Entered the Router's Mesh configuration and added the APs to the Mesh Network.
Set the same SSID and Password on all devices.
Set the Wi-Fi Channels of each device to avoid overlaping.
Reduced the transmission power of 3 devices, to restrict coverage to just one room.
Everything was working fine. I should have stopped.
Later I decided to update the Devices Firmware to Build 240930.
Firmware Updated Devices no longer appeared linked to the mesh network.
Kept updating the firmware of all devices.
Unfortunately it was not possible to reconnect the updated APs to the Router's Mesh Network without Restoring them to Factory Default.
Now, to connect the APs to the Mesh Network, the AP must be completely in Factory Default, "zero config". You can no longer configure devices to AP beforehand.
The divice in EasyMesh Agent mode doesn't allow changing its settings.
All devices work on the same Channel Band, and the same Transmission Power.
No way to avoid channel overlaping. No way to reduce the transmission power of a specific AP.
No way to downgrade the Firmware back to Build 230321.
"Please, release a new Firmware that allows us to individually configure the Wi-Fi Channel and the Transmit Power of each EasyMesh Satellite (ethernet backhaul)."
