Model: TL-PA4020P KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello,
I have a Powerline TP Link model TL-PA4020P that at a certain point completely stopped working, It is completely dead.
I tried to open it and after a visual inspection under the microscope there are no signs of damaged components.

since I am an electronics technician is it possible to have the diagrams of this device?
regards
Fabio

@papadeltasierra  I’ve been troubleshooting a dead TL-PA4020P (no LEDs, no signal). After several tests, I have identified the root cause of the failure.

I desoldered the switching transformer (Part No: 3510500114 PL 1452) to isolate the circuit. Here is the technical verdict:

Primary Winding: Measuring 0.0 Ohms (dead short) between the two primary pins.

Secondary/Auxiliary: Pins are clean and readings are within expected ranges.

Diagnosis: Internal short-circuit in the primary windings due to insulation breakdown (likely caused by 24/7 heat exposure over the years).

Since this is a custom transformer, I’m looking for a replacement or a compatible part number. Has anyone successfully sourced this transformer or found a compatible flyback alternative for this specific board?

Any help or lead on where to find the part would be greatly appreciated!

Hi@Bluroom,

If there is no power, abnormal indicators, or noise coming from your powerline devices, please refer to the below steps to troubleshoot:
1. Change to a different wall socket to power on the device.
2. Hard reset the powerline device and repair it. For powerline extenders, please press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds to reset them. For power adapters, press and hold the Pair button for 15 seconds until all LEDs turn on momentarily.

If the issue persists, please contact local support for further help.

In addition, we are also unable to provide information that is not available on the official website, such as device diagrams.

Thank you for your understanding.

@alexboii I'm already trying to repair the unit, I wanted to ask you who are more experienced on these devices, when a unit is bricked what is its behavior? Do the LEDs stay on fixed or no LEDs stay on?

Got the same problem and handy with a soldering iron. Did you manage to fix this and if so, how? Thanks, Paul DS.
