Hey everyone,

Looking for some help with my mesh network. It's the first time I've done any home networking.

I've got 4 Deco X10 set up in AP mode throughout the house. With a TP Link EX220 router into the fibre wall point, in router mode with the WiFi network disabled. My fibre connection is PPoE (not sure if this is relevant).

I get a lot of instability on the network throughout the house, especially on phones, my phone goes to "connected no internet", if I disconnect and reconnect it's fine again for a short period of time before doing it again. Doesn't matter if I'm in the same room and connected to a single deco or moving throughout the house. If I revert back to the router only, within range I get no disconnects and a much more stable connection.

My PC is ethernet cabled into a Deco on the first floor, which seems to be the most stable platform. Unless I get issues between Decos which happens too.

I'm assuming it's a configuration issue as I've just kind of plugged it all in and changed the Decos to AP, and turned off the main router WiFi.

I also tried having just the Deco as router (leaving out the EX220) and then the further Decos connected to that but had similar issues and even more stability / disconnect problems.

Can anyone give me some guidance as to what could be causing issues, what settings I should look at/disable?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

Since Deco X10 is also a wireless router, have you ever tried to remove EX220 and use Deco X10 only, setting it into wireless router mode and adding the PPPoE broadband credentials?

Can I also have the model numbers of the devices that frequently dropped out?

Please also save some screenshots of the network map on the Deco APP:

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Yeh I tried without the 220 and the Deco as router. Was worse I think. More disconnects.

I've attached the screenshots requested.

The device disconnecting is a Google Pixel 9 Pro.

@Benji409 You can connect your Deco X10 to your TP-LINK EX220 router by using a LAN cable on Router Mode and use Dynamic IP Mode and don't use on AP Mode and use the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 on your Deco X10 and set the MTU to 1500 then reboot your Deco X10 all units and then try and are you sure you are using correct PPPoE information on your router such as DNS & MTU and are you also facing this issue on your TP-LINK EX220 router ?? And what's your Deco X10 hardware version and firmware is updated or not ?

Hey thanks for the reply. Can you simplify that down a bit more?

I've got a Deco unit into the EX220 via LAN at the moment with the EX220 in router mode.

The PPoE info is automatically assigned as far as I can tell on the router settings. I've not configured anything manually.

Also, what is MTU?

Sorry for the lack of knowledge, I'm completely new to networking.

@Benji409 MTU means Maximum Transmission Unit which is used for internet connectivity 🤗 Are you facing network issues on your TP-LINK EX220 router ??

Not when it's just operating on its own, no.

@Benji409 Show me your Deco X10 network type and which DNS are you using ?? And are you using DNS server in DHCP Server or not ?

There's nothing on my Deco App, but this is the info from my EX220. Is that what you're after?

I don't understand your question - using DNS in DHCP server?

@Benji409 Go to Deco App then Go to More then Go to Internet Connection and then send me the screen shot.

That isn't an option because they're in AP mode.
