I've just signed up to the (once free) advanced screentime/family restrictions and have come to the reality that it's impossible to fully restrict a half smart child. Randomised mac addresses can easily bypass these for example.

So i had an idea of using the guest wifi for the kids instead. this way I could switch it off when required and there wouldnt be any bypassing. It works great, but it would be much better if you could give us the option to set times on the guest wifi. That way i could set it to turn off at bedtime.

thanks

  @SeanyG

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

May I know the model number and firmware version of your Deco?

Some models already support WiFi Access Control that allows specific MAC addresses to access the network.

Deco ECO Mode V1 also supports WiFi Schedule and has been added to a group of Deco devices.

Best regards.

Thanks, I have a mix of X10s (1.1.7) and E4Rs (1.6.1)

It looks like the eco mode is for the main wifi and not the guest? I wouldn't want the whole network turning off. Also, wifi Access control will be yet another subscription. I really don't think I should be paying a subscription for "advanced parental control" when they don't actually offer any protection from a simple mac address change.

What would you suggestr? Does homeshield protect against this? would i need to buy another version of router or are there plans to roll out on the X10?
