Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.3 Build 20231226 Rel. 71315

I have been using the Deco X20 for a few years.  Recently, the parental control does not work as expected.

I have set up a Parental Control profile and link to a Chromebook.  Few issues...

1. I have set the time limit - 1.5 hours weekday / 3.5 hours weekend.  After a few days, both weekday and weekend changed to 3.5 hours by itself.  I did not change the setting.

2. I use the Block button on the profile to block the internet access.  The device can still access internet.  When I check the Parental Control dashboard on TP Link app, I see it is not blocked.  I am sure I did not unblock it.

I have checked the firmware on the app, and it said the device has the latest version.

Not sure what's wrong with the parental control function!!??  Or my kid is smart enough to hack into the router and change the setting????

Anyone have similar experience and what is the solution??

Thank you in advance.

Hi, welcome to the community.

It is more like the parental control settings have been changed.

It is suggested to change the password of your TP-Link ID, then enable 2FA on the Deco APP:

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Deco APP

And you can also view the Account login history under Deco APP> 三> View Account> Login Security> Login Activity.

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

I have enabled 2FA long time ago, and there is no unauthorized access to the app per activities log.

It looks like to me either a bug in the firmware, or someone hacked into the router.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I don't think it is related to the firmware, as 1.5.3 has been released for a while, and I haven't seen similar feedback.

Have you run into this issue quite a few times? It is suggested to refer to this link to submit the Deco APP log:How to submit Deco APP log

Compared with someone hacking into the router, I tend to think the kid might pick up your mobile and change the parental control settings through the Deco APP.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
