Phenomenon Description

Several users have mentioned that although the Deco App and web UI indicated that the latest available update was version 1.2.5 Build 20240106 Rel. 2319, Deco didn't reboot and stayed with version 1.0.7 despite Deco APP completing the firmware upgrade process with the reboot timer. Having also tried manually updating via web UI, the upgrade process is completed, but the firmware is still not installed.


 

Solution

The minimum supported firmware version of 1.2.5/1.3.0 is version 1.0.11, and the current base version 1.0.7 is below the minimum request.
It is suggested to manually install the following 1.0.11 media beta version first, then update to the official 1.3.0 later.

Hi - I know this topic is a bit old.

I dusted off an older, unused Deco X60 to add to my network.

  The V3.6 1.09 is absolutely stuck on this firmware. I tried older firmware on the tplink site with no luck, via web/ethernet connection.  multiple reboots.  i even tried juggling and chewing gum.

I then tried the manual beta 1.0.11 file in this thread, still no love.

Unit works fine, just on 4 or 5 year old firmware.

Any ideas why I can't manually get 1.0.11 to help bootstrap the later firmware updates?  any ideas/guidance appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the community.

I suppose this Deco X60_V3_1.0.9 is one of the satellite Decos. Its LAN IP address can be found on the Deco App device settings.

When you updated this Deco, did you log into its individual web UI via its IP address?

If yes, would there be any error message during the firmware upgrade?

Hi David, Many many thanks - and you completely diagnosed my issue in .02 seconds! I didn't realize I could/should log into each satellite, I thought somehow, magically, the main deco would distribute or store the correct firmware for each - doh! Once I logged into the lagging device, I installed the stop-gap beta firmware, and from there the system was able to update as hoped. Thank you so much!
