Using DSL Modem Router VC220-G3U as Access Point

Hello everyone. This is my first post on the forum.
I’m currently using a TP-Link VX800 DSL modem. I have a spare TP-Link VC220-G3U modem, and I’d like to use it as a router for the cameras in my garden where the internet signal is weak.
On the VC220 modem interface, I see two options:
-
Operation Mode – Wireless Ethernet Router: I selected this mode and added a new connection under the WAN-WAN Connections section with the connection type set to Dynamic IP. I plugged the Ethernet cable into Port 4 (WAN/LAN) on the VC220.
-
Easy Menu – Easy Bridge: In this mode, I edited the existing DSL_INTERNET connection under WAN-WAN Connections and changed the connection type to Bridge.
In both setups, I disabled DHCP and assigned a different local IP address to the VC220 (something other than 192.168.1.1), such as 192.168.5.1 or 192.168.1.150.
However, I couldn’t get any internet connection in either case.
I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me out.

I want to provide an update on the current situation.
I reset the second modem once again to try it one more time.
From the easy menu, I set the operation mode to Wireless Ethernet Router.
In the WAN-WAN Connections section, I created a profile with the settings you'll see in the screenshot, selecting Dynamic IP type.
I did not disable DHCP. I didn’t change any of the second modem’s IP addresses myself.
I plugged the Ethernet cable into WAN/LAN port 4. The modem restarted itself automatically.
When I logged into the interface again, I saw that the modem assigned itself the IP 192.168.5.1.
I tried to change this manually to 192.168.1.2, but it didn’t allow it, saying it cannot be in the same range.
So I set it to 192.168.5.150, thinking it would stay within the pool.
In the WAN-WAN Connections section, I selected the Default Gateway option for the profile I created.
In the DHCP page, I set the Default Gateway Address as 192.168.5.150 and entered my ISP’s DNS values as the primary and secondary DNS — the same values used in the main modem.
After that, the internet connection started appearing as connected both in the Windows menu and on the second modem’s interface.
However, the Internet light on the modem is still red.
The internet connection is strangely working — but inconsistently. It’s like the connection is there, but unstable or struggling.
Strangely, when I open a long YouTube video, it plays without any buffering.
Even though YouTube works flawlessly during playback, websites either open with issues or don’t open at all. When the site doesn't load, the browser gives me the warning 'website took too long to respond.' So it doesn't say there's no internet."
When I visit speed test websites, sometimes it shows my full speed, sometimes it can’t even run the test.
This situation seems very strange to me — the fact that YouTube works perfectly while websites are problematic.
When I connect to the main modem, everything works flawlessly.
It feels like it's almost working, but I may need to adjust one or more settings, like some IP or DNS configurations.
But I’m not sure what exactly I need to do.
PS: On the main modem, the ip number of second modem seems 192.168.1.107. I can also access second modem via this adress and also via 192.168.5.150. So strange.
On wan-wan connections sectipn my profile gives gateaway 192.168.1.1 but on dhpc page gateaway is 192.168.5.150 and i can not change it to 192.168.1.1 main modem ip.

Hi, are you able to delete these two internet profiles here:
Was VC220-G3U provided by the ISP before?
If these two profiles can be deleted, I suggest we keep using the "wireless Ethernet router" mode and leave the DHCP server enabled to test whether it can receive internet access under standard wireless router mode.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

David, I appreciate your reply.
I checked, but there is no DELETE option available. Deletion is only enabled if I add a connection, as shown in the screenshot.
If by ISP you mean an Internet Service Provider, then yes — this modem was provided by a Turkish ISP.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Is there any other way to delete these two connections you mentioned? Like interfering with the modem’s software or using a firmware to make the device independent from the ISP company?

It is like you're close! Just make sure the VC220 is connected via LAN-to-LAN, not WAN summertime saga, when using it as an access point — that’s often the key step folks miss. Assigning a different IP and disabling DHCP was the right move.
