Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.4 Build 25011612 Rel. 44161

Hello,

I'm encountering a couple of challenges with VPN configuration on my Deco X50 and would appreciate any assistance.

First, I haven't been able to find a way to directly install or configure NordVPN on the Deco X50. Is this functionality not supported?

Second, I'm trying to set up a WireGuard VPN connection and am having trouble with IPv6. When I attempt to add an IPv6 range to the "Allowed IPs" field (currently showing 0.0.0.0/0,::/0), I receive an "invalid ip address" error. This occurs even when I try to configure an IPv6-only connection and IPv4/ipv6 connection, although an IPv4-only connection works without issue.
The same error appears in the "Address" field when trying to input an IPv6 address.

Finally, I've noticed a significant increase in latency when the VPN is active on the router compared to when I use a VPN client directly on my laptop or phone. Is this expected behavior, and are there any potential ways to mitigate it?

Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide!

  @Nean

Hi, thank you very much for the message.

I think it might be related to the location of your TP-Link account ID. Have you tried to manually configure NordVPN?

How to set the NordVPN OpenVPN manually on Deco App

Furthermore, Deco VPN connection doesn't support IPV6 yet, which might explain the error when adding the IPV6 addresses.

As for the VPN performance, the CPU capacity of Deco is not as robust as that of a computer, so it can't handle VPN encryption as quickly as a computer would when acting as a VPN client. The expected OpenVPN connection speed of Deco X50 would be about 10~30 Mbps, and the WireGuard VPN connection would be 5-10 times of current OpenVPN connection speed.

Best regards.
