Model: Tapo P100
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.5 Build 240411 Rel. 143808

Hi new here,

Just wonder if other are having or have seen similar issue as I described in the below.

I have serveral Tapo P100 and serveral Kasa HS100 Smart Plugs.
Lately I am having issues with Tapo P100s that are less than a year old that they become faulty with the power relay inside gives the click sound when powering on/off but the power stays on, presseing the button gives same result.

Neither of them have had a load higher than they are certified for, in fact the current was never more than max. 400W / 5 A.

Hs the Tapo Smart Plugs started to become low quality?
Anyone know if there is a way to return to TP-Link for testing?

Please verify whether the appliance is a supported type by the Tapo smart plug. Controlling an unsupported device has risks of damaging the smart plug. What types of loads can the Tapo plug support?

If the product fails under proper usage, reach out to the retailer or local TP-Link support for warranty assistance.

  @Wayne-TP

Thanks, for sure the appliance falls under supported ype as is a laptop adapter, a USB-C adapter and small monitor.
A Kasa smart plug was used for years, but was replaced with a Tapo as it has a smaller footprint.

Will try to reach out the TP-Link Support.

Connect the power strip to the smart plug to power multiple appliances is not supported as well. Overload situations might occur without your awareness when the load devices are running together.

In your case, I would recommend buying a Tapo smart power strip instead.

I’ve just had two of them do the same thing. Just today… I also have several of them, and also have a couple of the older Kasa larger units, and the Tapo p110m mini’s. But today it is one of each that has mysteriously decided to stop working. The mini plug is almost exactly 1 year old. It is never overloaded. I have had this happen already with a couple p100 and p110’s which I had just assumed it’s a cheap plug and just faulty… but to have two fail on the same day, and different models… I think I will be finding another brand that’s more reliable.
