Model: Deco E4
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I recently switched from satelite to fibre broadband and I am having issues connecting Deco mesh wifi to my outside office.

The fibre broadband router is located in the living room and is connected to Deco unit via Ethernet cable, which connects to 1 more upstairs and another in the attic. The Deco in the attic is connected to an Ethernet cable that runs into the outside office. All works fine inside the house. However, the Deco in the office only connects occassionally (turns solid white light) but then drops after a few minutes (flashes red) and signal is weak.

Is there an TP Link adapter that I can use in my situation to improve signal to the outside office as I need it for work?

Any help/guidance would be useful

Thank you

Hi, thanks for the update.

The latest firmware for Deco E4_v2 is 1.7.0, and you can update to the latest version first:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/748142

After that, as switching Deco units didn't make any difference, I think there might be something wrong with the Ethernet connection.

Is it a very long Ethernet cable?

Have you tried to replace it with a new Ethernet cable?

If we have a laptop connected to this cable in the office, can the laptop have a stable Ethernet connection?

Best regards.

Hi, can I have the current firmware version of the Deco E4_v2?

Is the "Office" satellite Deco E4 connected to the main Deco E4 via a single Ethernet cable, or any switch, or some reserved wall Ethernet sockets?

I wonder whether you can switch the location of the two satellite E4s to see whether the disconnection follows the same E4 or stays in the same location.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

Hi,

Sure, current firmware is 1.6.1 Build 20231227 Rel. 53644

The Office Deco E4 is connected via Ethernet cable that runs from attic in the house, which is connected to satellite Deco E4.

I switched the satellite Deco E4s on 1st floor and in the attic and this did not improve the connectivity in the Office (this Deco is labelled as "Study" in my Network)

Let me know if you want to try anything else

Thanks,

Lee
