Model: Deco BE85
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20241023 Rel. 34667

Situation:

We are using two BE85 satellites with WiFi 6 (7 is disabled currently). The main BE85 satellites has a wired connection to our internet router, as well as another wired connection to the companies storage system. All other connections are wireless (WiFi)! We haven't had any issues inside the LAN or when accessing the internet with our client devices.

All notebooks and PCs are using Windows 11.

Problem: We must connect with a virtual remote desktop (Windows 11) to get access to a customers network. This virtual desktop infrastructure is provided by the customer. We are using the Windows App (Windows App Version 2.0.503.0, Clientversion 1.2.6232.0) on our Windows 11 systems to connect with the virtual desktop. The authentication and login has no issues and the Window to the remote desktop opens. But after a few seconds the screen of the virtual desktop freezes and you can't use it any longer. There is nothing you can do except closing the window of the virtual machine. This issue occurred 3 days ago for the first time. But we are using this remote virtual desktop since September last year without issues before.

Troubleshooting:

When disconnecting the notebook or PC from TP-Links WiFi and connecting it with either a wireless cell phone hotspot (using 5G) or using a  wired connection with the internet router the remote desktop is alive again and can be used right from the same position where it was frozen before - meaning you don't even need to reboot the virtual maching. As soon as we connect our devices with TP-Link Deco BE85 wireless the remote desktop freezes again. This means that TP-Link Deco BE85 is facing an issue with remote virtual desktop connections.

Do you have any idea what could be causing the issue? I appreciate any kind of hint about what can be changed in the TP-Link Deco BE85 configuration to resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance.

  @G-Thumb

Hi, thank you very much for the update.

Did you set Deco BE85 into "Access Point" mode under Deco App>More>Advanced>Operation mode?

I noticed you mentioned:

When disconnecting the notebook or PC from TP-Links WiFi and connecting it with either a wireless cell phone hotspot (using 5G) or using a  wired connection with the internet router the remote desktop is alive again

Have you also tested connecting the Windows 11 PC using a wired connection to the main Deco BE85? Will it also make the Remote virtual Desktop start working again?

And can you send some screenshots of the current network map on the Deco APP, such as:

I'll also follow up on your case via email and ask the senior engineer for further assistance.

Please check whether you can receive my email later.

Best regards.

@G-Thumb Hi, welcome to the community.

Can you consistently reproduce this issue when the company notebooks/PCs are connected to the Deco WiFi?

-"after a few seconds the screen of the virtual desktop freezes and you can't use it any longer"

"We are using two BE85 satellites with WiFi 6 (7 is disabled currently)."

-Currently on the Deco BE85, do you only enable the Main WiFi network(2.4+5 GHz bands)?

By the way, how many online clients are connected to Deco BE85?

Did you set Deco BE85 into wireless router mode or Access point mode?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

Hi  @David-TP,

yes, we can reproduce this problem. It started on Wednesday last week.

Yes, WiFi 7 is disabled/not in use at all. Because there are a few devices existing which are incompatible with WiFi 7 (for example old WiFi speakers).

We have 7 devices connecting through the main Satellite where the Internet connects, too. The other Satellite has less devices connected.

Cheers

  Hello @David-TP,

no, Access Point mode is deactivated and Standard mode is on.

I've tried a wired connection to TP-Link router. Same result. Remote virtual desktop is frozen when it's open.

My setup is simple:

Internet router by Vodafone Kabel Deutschland provides broadband internet access (250 Mbps download, 32Mbps upload). TP-Link BE85 is connected via Ethernet cable. The client devices are connecting wireless with TP-Link. Default config is being used.
