Frequent DNS resolution lag.
Hi,
I'm having issues similar issues to the thread https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/670734
In my setup I have 3 Deco BE65 units. The wifi strength and speed between the units is strong and not an issue. My internet connection is a 300mb FTTP line.
In the default router mode the DNS resolution of websites is frequently laggy. This gives the impression of pages being slow to load when it happens, however a speed test will show full normal throughput. The lag occurs in DNS resolution as can be seen using the Chrome developer tools network panel. This is happening on average 2 - 4 times per minute, which makes it a major problem.
See above example screenshot of this.
This issue existed on the original firmware and still exists on the current 1.1.0 version at the time of writing.
Through the following tests I have deduced the problem is definitely in the Deco unit, as the issue does not ever occur using the ISP supplied router for internet whilst switching Deco to Access Point mode (using it only for WiFi).
Tests performed on Deco in router mode:
- Using default ISP DNS servers (issue still occurs)
- Switching DNS servers in the internet connection settings to different known DNS providers such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 (issue still occurs)
- Lowering MTU in the internet connection settings (issue still occurs)
- Raising Deco default MTU from 1480 to 1492 (my ISP default MTU) in the internet connection settings (issue still occurs)
- Testing different devices (issue still occurs)
- Testing via ethernet direct into the main Deco unit (issue still occurs)
Has anyone else experiences this?
Any support would be appreciated as if this can't be resolved then half the Deco functionality can't be used and I will be sending them back as faulty / not fit for purpose.
Many thanks!
