Model: TL-PA8010P KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I've been using my existing powerline system for a few years, and have successfully troubleshot issues by re-pairing or resetting to factory settings when needed. I use the powerline to bring internet to my garden office, where I use an Ethernet connection for my laptop. Lately, and for no reason that I can discern, the Ethernet connection in my garden office stopped working and now shows up on my laptop as as not connected, and displaying my previous broadband network, not my current one. I tried re-pairing, and even reset to factory settings, and noticed that on the hub / adaptor, the powerline extender light is now off (which is a recent change but ok). No amount of restoring to factory settings seems to be getting it to turn on. It doesn't have a hard reset button/pin, and I don't use utility. Is there anything I can do, or do I need to get a new one? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,

As you mentioned, the model TL-PA8010P doesn't have a dedicated "Reset" button.

However, the "Pair" button on the TL-PA8010P is a dual-function button.
A short press of the "Pair" button initiates the pairing.
A long press (about 10 seconds) of the "Pair" button initiates a reset.

For efficient troubleshooting I suggest you get the TL-PA8010P from the garden and plug it into a wall socket that is very near the other TL-PA8010P unit. Then try to pair the two TL-PA8010P and once done connect your laptop and test if you can get a network connection now.

The light that isn't coming on is the one marked with , right?

If the pairing doesn't even work at a very short distance, then it is indeed likely that one of the Powerline adapters is broken.

@woozle yeah that's the light. I have previously done a long pair reset and it's worked, but now that I look back, I've been having to do it more and more frequently, so sounds like it's been slowly giving up the ghost.  Thank you for the help! It's much appreciated.
